Mclaren are soon to build their own motors again, I think from 2014 on.

Again?.. when was the first time. They aren't even making the road car engine themselves, no way they'll produce an F1 engine. Contract is through 2015 anyway.

    Johnathan Neale:

"That’s a good question, but the assumption that we’re not working as closely with Mercedes would be incorrect. We have had a long relationship with Mercedes Benz HighPerformanceEngines at Brixworth. We know the guys up there really well and we’re a good team. So we are working with them very closely ahead of 2014 ...

I can tell you that there’s an absolute cast-iron guarantee that it’s our intention to stay with Mercedes Benz as we transition to the next generation of engines."

+1, Button is a very likeable chap. It's like having Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker on the same team though.

    Absolutely.

I hope LH comes out of this attempted extortion with a significant pay cut and after he leaves Ron's meeting room, Ron pushes his seat back and puts his legs up on his desk and he mutters contentedly to himself "Go swivel young Lewis, go swivel!" :D

button *and lewis for that matter, need teammates that push them, and they don't have that chemistry

button gets in a slump without being challenged, thinks too much "team"

lewis just gets pouty, but he's also typically running his own race, rather than "team" ...he needs a 'strong' team mate to directly challenge him & push him harder IMO

i think they both could improve with different team mates

Whenever Ron Dennis says something like that, you can be sure there's a damn good chance that maybe the opposite will happen, and LH will NOT be at McLaren next year.

From the sound of it, Id say its a 'take it or leave it' offer RD and Mclaren have made. It involves a bit less money and the knowledge he has no other serious offer avail. He knows emphatically LH will be there and on the terms RD has dictated.

Another good point and I mostly agree with.

Quite possibly but Ron speaks in tongues and uses alot of smoke and mirrors also.

I have to agree with you. If McLaren did not renew his contract Lewis really no place to go but down.
