PSW recovered well after someone tangled with him early in the race. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?15/07/2012.ARDC.R16
Thanks Jeh, it was a tough but somewhat rewarding race, my first reasonable start since starting in the Radical, I usually loose between 4 & 11 places at the start, went into turn one having only lost one place, by the end of first lap I'm catching the young Formula Ford driver who was P3 on grid, followed under his wing through turn one, he drifted just off track outside of turn 1, I took the opportunity & dived down the inside, he came back on track just before turn 2 & took me out into turn 2. Seriously p'ed off... thinking finally I get a reasonable start & don't have to... as normal fight back through the field I had qualified faster than. Anyhow thats racing... fought my way back from position 20 to finish 9, so even though I was hoping for top 5 finish at start, to get third fastest time of race (btw thanks Simon ) was very satisfying. I can finally see some start & race craft improvement, that has been my achilles heel till now, I've had reasonable race speed but have lacked the race craft experience, still learning & having huge fun along the way
I was watching online and it seemed that he closed the door on you when he had already lost his place. You came to a stop right in the middle of the circuit, so I was just glad no one came through and cleaned you up. One of these days I'll get out to the track to watch you guys (Rog, you or KIAI), you've got a lot of respect for getting out there and doing well.
The surprising thing was he put in a protest to the stewards, saying it was my fault, when they viewed my in car footage they obviously said he was at fault. Just let us know if you decide to come one time, get you a ticket if one left and available.
Don't they say the driver always thinks he's in the right? I'm glad you were shown to be in the right, but it doesn't help you much. Must be frustrating.
It's funny how often that happens, the logic seems to be complain first and complain loudest, then you're off the hook. In the Group R accident 2 weeks ago, the culprit vigorously claimed to be the wronged party until the in-car footage (taken from the rearward facing camera of a car in front) clearly showed him to have caused the mess. I used to think cameras were a bit of fun, but now I see the safety benefit.
Thanks, you're welcome to a spare ticket from me as well. btw it costs less than you think to actually get involved in racing. e.g. there is a TIGA Sports 2000 (like a smaller CanAm car, Ford Pinto engine) for sale at the moment, fully prepared and with copious spare parts, for $40K. It would get you around EC in the mid 1:30's, drive it for 5 years, it's still worth $40K. Your only cost is entry fees, tyres and fuel.
You know Pete,if you lopped off the other leg you'd be even faster!!Weight advantage and all that. You'd also lose that achilles heel you've been going on about.

did the Lola's valve clearances today - how clean is the inside of this engine? Zero wear on cam lobes, big tick for Brad Penn oil. Image Unavailable, Please Login
