Good job Alonso! Keep the points rollin ... If Lotus can figure out a way to get some heat into their tires in laps 1-2 then they will win more. They lose spots in the first lap and cant seem to recover. I think Kimi's gearing was too low at Hungary - even with DRS he was barely 7-8 km/h faster than Hamilton - not enough to overtake. To the others who say Kimi and Spa - I say right on .. the boy has a special feel for Spa. Hope he can clinch his first win there for Lotus.
Indeed. Fact is that he extended his lead albeit by a tiny margin. Despite a track where Ferrari often struggles.
Agreed on all points. A Kimi win in Spa will be special. Lotus messed up Kimi's KERS settings at the start hence he lost positions .
Seems the Rev hasn't quite figured out he's being closely watched; Anyone else reckon it was a legit move?..... My 02c was that he once again slid into Scottalian - Anyone else would have probably got away with it, but Danny360 )) was sending a message maybe? Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/101639
What was so funny and what was so awesome about it? Not sure which was more boring between this and Bahrain. Good haul of points by FA and extended the lead. Not bad, their car was poor here though.
LOL says maldo was "shocked" at penalty ....well maldo, if you steer the wheels toward the other guy, we call that "intentional"
Unfortunately, +1 Typical rookie mistake too! He shut it down. Then a puncture. Then a pitlane speed violation & drive thru. Cheers, Ian
Oh...typical low-class response from MBFerrari. It must be awful to have so much hate for someone and equally awful to watch your hero flounder in the second-rate Indycar series.
I love this quote from Kimi: NOTHING fazes this guy, haha. Brilliant piece of driving from both Lotus drivers there, and throughout the race. Kimi's performance was a bit like Schumachers in 1997 IMO ''Kimi, make the tires last, and btw, you also need to do it at qualifying speed if you want a podium''.
No sir. From the horses mouth; Damn rookies! Seriously, I'm not sure why the lights went yellow in the first place? Hopefully Charlie will let us know soon enough. Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/101624
Well from his last comments, he doesn't think he does anything wrong, so it doesn't surprise me. The eyes are open, the mouth moves, but Mr Malds brain has long since departed.
Great race for team Renault (stop enabling them by calling them Lotus ). A nice result for Alonso and the Scuderia. He's still in first and they're in the hunt for second place. Mrs. Mitt's horse had a good enough result to help but not so good as to justify resigning him. Kimi will win one this year. Mr Greenjeans may as well. I don't know why this surprises some folks.
For those wondering, Gary Anderson says the aborted start was caused by Schumacher stopping in the wrong grid slot @andrewbensonf1- 1 hour ago
So MS managed the Trifecta of rookie mistakes within 5 minutes? - slots into wrong grid spot - kills the engine - forgets to hit the pitlane button
Haha I read into it earlier; On the first formation lap his engine was overheating and the telemetry didn't work mostly (presumably from pitwall side). Because of that Schumacher shut the engine down in fear of damaging it (can't blame him, not much you can do from 17th in hungary). Mercedes restarted the engine (presumably telemetry was working again, and perhaps they checked for clipboards left in the intake a la Button Monaco 2011). Then he picks up a puncture, and slowed down to late, or pressed the pitlane button to early when exiting... The wrong gridslot is pretty bad, but I suppose he was pretty focused on the engine temperatures, lol! all in all a horrific weekend for Mercedes. Pathetic qualifying and once again taking huge risks with going for the very last lap in Q2. Considering what the car should be able to do, this is a humiliating showing.
Crappy weekend no doubt for both of them. Yes, it sucked and I'm sure it was painful for the team but they will learn and move forward. I also can't read too much into this weekend just due to how wacky the tires are this year. Any team and driver can have a bad weekend, and has.
