... hmm if you posted that on a motorcycle forum I'm pretty sure they would laugh at you.

Otherwise I agree. I will also be telling my grandkids that he was a cheat, but was amazing to watch in the late 90's.

And 99.9999% of the guys on a motorcycle forum would get their asses handed to them by Schumi as well!

True of course they would, but a motorcycle racer is the likes of Stoner or Lorenzo and both are in a completely different league than MS (on a bike).

I think you should have said: "..., raced motorcycles (okay)." ... his results definitely did not stand out in the motorcycle community, in fact he caused a crash by jumping on the rear brake in one race: http://www.speedzilla.com/forums/street-track/47229-schumi-uh-oh.html

I wonder whether lorenzo or stoner would get closer to MS' lap time in his car than MS would get to their time on their bike? I suspect they would, but have no idea, obviously.

That would be interesting. Rossi apparently got close on some test sessions: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2010/1/10355.html

Surely harder to go from cars to bikes?

I'm just getting fed up with the constant harping on his mistakes, like his Hungarian weekend. He's just a human, for goodness sake.

Completely agree. Point in pt 3, he gave more than most countries even did .

Anyone that says Schumacher is a failure and not as good as people think he is, are just completely uneducated about F1. You could win a championship by having the very best car but being an OK driver (Villeneuve for instance), but 7, and 5 in a row at that? No. Superhuman more like.

I think you can draw a lot of parallels from Jordan and MS in terms of legacy. When Jordan came back, he went to the Wizards, a crappy team. While it was clear he was no longer the same player as before, he was still very very good. He didn't win a title because the team was no good (similar to MS's cars he's driven the last 3 years). Now, everyone speaks of Jordan as the unbeatable all-time great, no one cares about his comeback. In fact, when the young stars today (Lebron for example) hint at trying to eclipse Jordan's achievements, they are ridiculed immensely.

Michael has already shown he has the speed (Monaco pole, Valencia podium, six top 5 starts this year), now it's just a matter of getting the right car. He could have easily thrown in the towel after the 1st year when he had a tough time but he didn't.

MB is more of a Red Bull than a Toyota, Honda, Jaguar, BMW simply for the reason that Brawn is there and hired a brain trust staff for his team and none of the other manufacturer teams did that, but rather they hired internally and that was their demise, lack of expertise. Honda's swan song was everyone knowing they designed BGP001. Did Red Bull even do it overnight with Newey?? No.

W03 was indeed much quicker than Clifford at the beginning of the season which is certainly a testament to their design as THAT is when the design is most pure. MB simply slowed further development of W03 compared to Ferrari who went full throttle to not embaress themselves! Ferrari showed they built an experimental pile of a car and needed half the season (!!!!!) to make it competitive. MB simply chose to devote their resources to other things rather than worry about being embarassed.

I can't believe we go round and round with this, but how is Ferrari not just the Fiat racing team?? Do they not have a loose cannon commander (Montezemolo) and board to answer to?? Yes! They do! Montezemolo was fuming at the beginning of the season and I have no doubt if the season did not turn around for them he would have sacked half the team sending Ferrari back to the stone age. This style of 'fear' management is the only reason I don't really stand by Ferrari any longer. It's like Ferrari parts prices, they do it why? because they can. Sad, especially when I find out some random Fiat truck used the identical crap part and cost 1/10 the price lol.

Come on, we all know Michael is evil and bad because Tifosi12 says so, and because Ferrari hates Michael for leaving them in their 'hour of need' or whatever (oh, wait, no they don't, they love Michael).

    You wouldn't know it. ;)

Given the dearth of news during the sabbatical there will be more of this sort of general discussion but it deserves it's own thread.

Stuff like the F-duct or DDRS being banned doesn't bother me because if you don't ban it then all teams have it next year and have to waste money developing it and it really has an inconsequential effect on lap times (just look at Mercedes).

:) You're very welcome my dear! Enjoy in the best of health. And thanks for the pic ;)

I think you're being too modest with your "fortunate to win" comment though - Even I have to admit that the young lad beat him fair & square. :(

Looks like we've got a wash between the two wagers this year; For anyone interested, We've got the same Schu -v- Nico bet - Doesn't look good for me thus far. However, we've also got Kimi -v- Lettuce, and that looks a lot better for me.

    All in good fun. ;)

BTW, meant to ask; why "Danny360"? - I guess 'cos he's done it all?

    Cheers,
    Ian

As is well known, I'm not a fan of PF1. However, that has to be about the worst copy editing job I've read in a *long* time - Made my head hurt trying to make sense of some of the typo's. Talk about unprofessional! [Not to mention the constant McHam brown nosing ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

*Next* year though - And that by common consensus of the teams via a TWG meeting apparently.

You can innovate & interpret (subject to satisfying Charlie). You're then good to go. No in season rule changes here!

    Cheers,
    Ian

They definitely need spell check. They could benefit from syntax check too, for that matter.

I thought the Hamilton line ws pretty even this time; he was lucky to beat Lotus in a race he had to win and he was aided by key learnings from Button's 3-stopper (which was planned for LH also)
