Ya know... I'm going to agree here. But there's a fine line sometimes between a public service and using a forum as a weapon to bludgeon someone into submission. The conversation can get a bit one sided. I don't think that line was crossed here. As with every single transaction involved with any expensive auto, when it comes to your view of the deal, YMMV. But in the end, we all like happy endings. Now, time to drive!
Actually, I'm not the mayor really. I am Fchat's official ambassador to "Sin City" but ambasssador is too long user name. The mayor is shorter. In this town -- Fchat -- I am merely a visitor, and sometimes and all too often --an unwanted pest!
As I said a few hundred posts ago to some other posters on here. There is a lot of communication that occurred along the way between myself, the dealer and the mechanics, etc. that is impossible to give 100% of the details. Those details were the building blocks to my situation that I detailed on here as clearly as possible. Of course I welcome many different point of views, but I don't welcome attacks to my ethics and honesty. All that said, I definitely "hear you", it doesn't necessarily mean that I think that I agree with you, given my situation. And of course I do understand the way you view it because you are not in my shoes. I can tell you with certainty that anyone that is close to me, and has been there for a blow by blow of my situation has said that I am being WAY too nice and patient with the dealership. Some were even so upset that they even offered to personally go down there for me! Very crazy! I know you may not see it that way, but I was more than a gentleman about the situation, and I feel that the outcome shows that. As you probably already know, we will probably never see eye to eye, but I do "hear" your perspective, just as much as a perspective that I do agree with. I'm not close minded, I just feel that certain comments that were made by you prove to me that you either did not get the full story by reading ALL the posts, or you are just not "hearing" ME. No disrespect or hard feelings intended.... Thank you. It started as just my story, that turned into helping others to make an educated purchase, that took a turn into trying to recover my costs to make the car "right". Crazy! Agree. You are a smart logical person. Agreed.
Yes you missed a lot! The paint correction was done at FofLI and they did an amazing job! It looks like a whole different car. It went from looking like a swirly mess, to looking like a show car finish! They did a great (proper) job.
Now that this "saga" seems to be nearing the end I'd like to make an observation. We have all experienced a car dealer (or other vendor of some sort) not full filling a promise on a purchase. Our reactions to being over-promised and under-delivered tend to leave us angry and feeling used, and this doesn't sit well with many FChatters because most if not all of us are successful in business and wouldn't be able to purchase such a car if we weren't. To be successful in business over a long period of time isn't easy, you've got to manage customers expectations and deliver on what was promised. What happened here is uncontionable, the buyer was promised certain things, paid the price asked and then had to ask several times then beg, and finally threaten to get what he paid for. However, I'm old fashioned and I don't believe two wrongs make a right. The lesson learned is that you should never pay in full until you are satisfied with what you have received. People take advantage of nice honest buyers and this is exactly the case here. I know hindsight is 20x20 and it's easy for me to say this now but I learned a valuable lesson about buying something long distance, "don't pay in full until you get what you asked for". I'm glad it all worked out, enjoy the car, forget the seller and the way you were treated and move on. You own one of the greatest sports cars ever built!
More good news! I finally received the gas cap in the mail, it was overnighted to me. I now can say that I got what I paid for, and I'm happy with the conclusion of my purchase with FofPB. They did pull through on their end of the bargain as of now. If possible, please refrain from adding additional comments on this thread, feel free to PM me any time if you want. Also, Moderator: If possible (I'm not sure of the rules etc.), as I told the dealer that I would do, I'm asking you to please remove this thread from the forum. It became WAY too long, and if a reader does not read every post from start to finish, it is possible that the interpretation may be skewed. (I have seen examples of this from some comments along the way). Thank you, and thanks to all the other forum members that gave support/advice! Happy motoring....
Congrats, glad to hear it work out for you. I have a question , can be answered with a simple yes or no. Do you think this thread had anything to do with them paying you?Just curious
Dealer fee is another word for pure profit, which is not surprising given the horrible experience. Not all dealers do this - I bought from Ferrari of Silicon Valley and it was a straight forward transaction without any hidden fees or surprises. I highly recommend them!!! Not sure why you need to take anything post down since you have still yet to receive your gas cap. Obviously they are hoping that you're going to give up so they can make another few dollars off of you.
I did get the gas cap, see post #359. I agree dealer fees are glorified padded profit. It wasn't supposed to be added according to our agreement before I flew down. They wanted to add it. I agreed to it (reluctantly) when I was down there. It was all explained in my prior posts. It's the first time in my life that I paid something silly like that.
