That thing is unbelievably sexy looking. I love it.

What do they want for a new 918? $600k?

I like the way it looks in that livery too.

I think more like 900K USD

I hear 1.3 MM USD for the New McLaren F1 and more than that for the new Enzo.

    Simply what I've heard.

I've also heard you can get a 918 and that initial letters have gone out for the New McLaren F1 and The New Enzo.

I think they're offering drives to real potential customers of the 918 in the US soon.

Love the 918... but $900k is too much money for it.

I could see $1.3m for Ferrari F70... $1m for new McLaren F1... $800k for a Pagani or Koenigsegg.... but the 918 seems like more Lamborghini Aventador range @ ~$500k

KERS which all three will feature is very expensive and adds a lot to performance. Boost as it's electrical is instant.

    Here's the rear. I like the exhausts a bit P 4/5.

If McLaren follows the same ideals with the new F1 that they did with the old F1, no way it will be $1million. The old one cost that in 94.

Lot of rumors on the New McLaren F1. Active aero, pulls 2 G's.

I like the 918 but am surprised that the nose looks a bit Ferrari F 430.

The price of the 918 Spyder (in Spain) is exactly €767.555.

Price level will be similar to the new Enzo or the new McLaren, but in terms of performance... The 918 is an experiment, not a try of being the best supercar on earth. IMO.

Even the Veyron with the air brake's peak accel was 1.6G... Tires/chassis/suspension sure have come a lonnnnnng way. Too bad vehicle weights have also been on a junk food diet at the same time. :(

An unnamed tire engineer told me they are launching a new 220 treadwear tire that behaves like a current 80 treadwear tire very soon.

    Wow things are moving along!

I have no pull with any of these cars, but I can tell you I have set aside serial number 001 of the 2012 JSC LLC tee-shirt which I will personally give you at Quail.

Sorry, that's the best I can do :)

impressive info per the Porsche mag Excellence...

with more traction than CGT official 0-60 is 1 second faster, 2.9 sec or less compared to 3.9 for CGT (but it actually went faster as we all know), prelim figure is 7:22 at NS, 10 seconds faster than CGT. Porsche is just prob being cautious, and sub 7:20 will be comfortably attainable.

final production 918 to have 800+ hp, 9000rpm, cost $875k
will weigh between 3700-3750 lbs (YIKES..700lbs more than CGT)
4.6L V8, at 290lbs, weighs only 25lbs more than racing 3.4L its derived from, though shares no common parts with the race version (CGT engine gained over 100lbs from race motor). exhaust insided the V, bespoke PDK is upside down, etc...

the car will be stupid fast, but the figure that grabs my attention (something the P engineers have been sweating over) is the weight of the car. new 'enzo' will be well under 3000lbs? These cars will be massively different...

The New Enzo won't be well under 3000 lbs. The new McLaren may be. The 918 is fast.

we'll have to wait and see just how close they get to that 1250kg hype. but i think it's very interesting how each manufacturer is 'showcasing' tech...

The question is how will it feel on the road to regular drivers. KERS on a track requires a different technique and a bit of a learning curve.

Jim, I believe Porsche went to mounting the radiators out wide and in front of the front wheels with the 996 and I think (?) before Ferrari: http://www.porschephotos.info/large/srcPorsche-911-Carrera-4S-001/

But yes styling wise looks a little F360 like ... but the 918 looks a hundred times better than the Enzo, CGT and Bugatti IMO.

Seriously. Perhaps not the best timing for the release of so many > $1mm hypercars. I wonder if the manufacturers have their "B" and "C" List letters drafted yet.

Those who forget History are condemned to relive it. I haven't forgotten unsold Ferrari's stacking up on the Newark piers and Authorised dealers begging me to buy a new Ferrari well below msrp. which I did. The Dealer thanked me but Ferrari never did.

So far 918 sales are WAY under their boom time dreams. 200vs900 from what I've been told. 700X900USD is a bit of change. Assume Porcshe's profit would have been at least 400K per car that's still money.
