Our 2013 Cali got is on the boat coming over. The dealer says it's like going into a "black hole" as far as timing of arrival here. Anyone know what is typical for it's cruise across the Atlantic?

Mine took 3 weeks to hit New Jersey and cleared customs the next day which was lucky, as that is another black hole. One person on this forum paid the 10K premium to fly his Cali over only to have it sit at customs for 3 weeks - ouch!

My car set sail 3 days ago.

My last car took about 6 weeks to get from the factory to my destination.

On the boat itself, it takes about 8 days. But, it may stop at different ports before it crosses the Atlantic and that could slow it up. Then when it arrives it needs to clear customs, do paperwork, be inspected by FNA, and shipped to you takes the rest of the time. Depending on your location, it can take up to 10 days for the car to get from NJ to the west coast depending on how many stops. Florida is probably a little quicker given the dealers along the route are pretty much a straight line.

Then, the dealer will have it probably 2 to 4 days before it's ready to give to you.

    I don't expect mine until early/mid September.

TM, when you wrote that it had "set sail;" did you mean set sail or did you mean Status 90? Mine turned 90 on July 26 but is still at port. Can you shed some light.

For those following this thread that have a car coming but not on the boat yet, you really should consider flying it over. Yep it is more money but it saves at least three weeks maybe more. I had both of my Cali's flown.

Rick, I had specifically ordered my dealer to send this car by air. Unfortunately the car went from Status 20 to Status 90 in one step. That is, we checked Modis on a Monday and it was Status 20 and then checked five days later and it was 90. I made the dealer confirm it was correct. Indeed it was: the car was at port, having left the factory. And I was told that because it was at port, no chance for air freight. Air freight is an awesome idea if the company has a more reliable order update system!

I'm only quoting what the dealer said "Your car set sail 2 days ago". That's all I know but I'm stopping by there on Friday morning.

A good reason to specify air freight when ordering the car for all of those that recently ordered one. Something tells me that the chance of damage is less too. The price really isn't too bad considering which tells me Ferrari is encouraging air freight.

Rick ... and I can't wait to see your photos! Be sure to have your salesman take photos of you the first time you start your Cali ... with the huge s'it eating grin.

IIRC I recently read of a member here who didn't select air freight, but it ended up they sent it over by air anyways free of charge. Lucky!

that was me. Ferrari added my car onto an air-freighted delivery and I was surprised to see a $5k extra tacked onto my total. when I questioned dealer, they said it was out of their control but that if I was really unhappy, they could press the issue. however, the car was kept at the dealer for an additional 3 weeks due to issues they needed Ferrari to help them solve (after it had arrived almost one month early due to air delivery), negating all the advantage. In the end, the refunded the entire air-freight fee and Ferrari even sent me a letter and leather overnight bag as form of apology for the delays. Turns out it was a loose relay under the passenger seat causing an intermittent error during testing.

All in all, a very positive experience, given that Ferrari (and my dealer, Ferrari Long Island) seemed to go the extra distance to please me, a first time customer.

I was at the dealer today and yes, my car is definitely on the ocean. It was shipped last week.

They told me that the last batch of cars took 3 weeks to clear customs and get transport out NJ. So, the best guess is the second week of Sept. They sure it won't get to LV in August. That's good because I'm traveling anyway at that time.

That is another reason to air freight it, I think the air freighted cars go to the head of the line in customs, etc. so it leaves NJ within a day or two of arriving!

I agree. I am also told you can fly it into LA and get customs there to clear it. Someone said in the 458 section they got the car in 3 days of arrival. That's freaking fast!
