Does anyone have the actual number of 1980 ferrari 308gtsi that came off the production line?

 

Can't vouch for the accuracy, but Ferraridatabase.com says 1749 GTSis and 494 GTBis.

Those figures you give are for the total production of the two valves injected cars. But the specific subject of the numbers of injected cars produced during the year 1980 only is difficult and touchy, as the factory numbers are clearly too small when compared to cars actually spotted. It has been discussed comprehensively here in different topics...

Fair enough. If someone wants the precise figures for 1980, that may be hard to come by. I thought this might be useful to the original poster.

 

According to Frenchman(?), Antoine Prunet's book,"Ferrari-The Road cars" published in 1987....which I have an English language edition off, the production figures for 2valve GTBi and GTSi's he provides (sourced from Ferrari) are as follows:


308 GTSi 1980(29) 1981(1092) 1982(622) Total produced=1743

308 GTBi 1980(24) 1981(329) 1982(141) Total produced=494

According to other records I have there were 42 RHD GTBi's and 67 RHD GTSi's out of this total.

There is no possible way there were only 29 GTSi's produced in 1980. I have one in my garage, I know the first US spec GTSi is out in CA, there are usually about 2 per week on ebay and as a wild guess there are 10-12 alone here on FChat. That authors numbers can't be correct for 80 GTSi. There is a guy named Dave here on Fchat that has a registry of 1980 cars. I thought it was DAVEM, but can't recall

Those figures for 1980 production of the "i" cars are wrong; it seems that they came from the factory, and were also quoted in Dirk-Michael Konradt's otherwise very good book ("Autos die Geschichte machten, Ferrari 308/328").
But other threads on this forum have already proved that there were many more "i" cars than this produced in 1980.
The exact number of 1980 "i" cars produced in total eludes us for the time being, but, and I refer everyone interested in this to the other threads of the forum about this, is much more than that, as proved in these threads.

Only standard (euro) version, not US version.

 

My 1980 has a GTS badge on the fuse box cover and a GTSi badge on the back of the car. Guess they figured it was a sin to waste the badges from earlier cars than to throw them away. Don't know why they just didn't add a little i to the GTS.
