Any factory one-off application like this is very special. People must have thought it was science fiction!

I can totally relate!!! Back in the early 80's when I was at the International Auto Show here in Seattle at the Kingdom (before they blew it to smithereens), I was gaga over seeing this Countach with a Phone in it! At the time I remember thinking to myself, "how cool to be able to talk on a phone from inside your car"! Hahahahaha... Oh how times have changed!!!

Interesting.... So, it would be safe to say the tv would be a devaluing factor on the car as would be the case with any cars with special features that does not have build sheet.... And if the original owner never kept the build sheet or note or document, then it really means there would be no proof that it came from the factory that way...especially since Lamborghini never had factory television units...and never kept great records...

I think you are right - if a non-standard application cannot somehow (factory build sheet, period photograph etc) be proven to be a factory build, some (not all) might want to put it back to standard, and some just wont care either way.

Again I think you are right - if a build sheet showing something non-standard was a factory build, then there is no proof, unless period photographs exist when the car was new.

Yes Lamborghini never had factory TV units, but as with many components Countachs are built with, they simply sourced them from a supplier. By the way, I'm not aware of any other Countach with a claimed factory-fitted TV, not to say that others don't exist.

Yes, Lamborghini kept poor records, and that is why the provenance of these cars is interesting.

that is probably the worst option on a ct ever..lol. Reason being that imagine tugging at the wheel with a phone and working the clutch and shifting.... that must be a hand ful... wonder if that car still survived...:)

What Mike didn't tell you is that the car had another phone for the passenger as it was a closed loop intercom system....LOL

Didn't get used much as your passenger is pretty audible over the V12 yelling "OH Shh..."

    The long way home
Apologies if this has been covered already, but...

There's been mention of cars that at some point in their history had the wheel flares added post production to look like a newer version. Question is, can the factory flares on, say, a 5000S be easily removed?

Love the Silhouette in the background. Hard to believe only 52 of those beauties were ever built.

Yes they are just rivetted on to flanges on the fenders, but the metal work is very different between cars with flares and the original lp400's

Thanks for sharing that. This helps to answer Prancing 12's question, as we can see that the wheel arches that are revealed after removing the flares are shaped completely differently from that of the LP400.

But why anyone would want to make an LP500S become an LP400 escapes me, because the LP500S is a great Countach.
