some of the electrical wire wrap has come off in the engine compartment leaving some wires exposed to the heat. The wrap is like fabric, almost ribbon like. Checked w/ a few auto parts stores w/ no luck. They advised nylon electrical tape. Any idea on this wrap? tks

Same thing happened on my 02 car. The black woven sleeve split exposing the wire bundle near the front bulk head on the passenger side.

I bought some electrical "fuse" tape from Pep Boys. It wraps and sticks to itself. I then put a length of thermo tec heat shield wrap around the bundle. It wraps around and secures with velcro. So, two layers.

Thermo-tec available through amazon or summit racing

Check with 3M or Summit Racing...

A heat shrink to clear the terminal ends is my suggestion at first blush, but I would want to vet the material for the heat envirnoment under hood.

If you dont care for a perfect OEM solution, you can buy this stuff in feet and various sizes. Its woven heat resistant plastic that is split down the middle so you can wrap the wires with out having to pull them. All the electrical sheathing was shot on my Lambo and i used this to recover them all.

Its called Tesa Coroplast cloth tape, not many suppliers stock it as it's basically a product used by OEM's. I've bought it on ebay - just do a search.

There are a couple advantages over using electrical tape. First, it looks stock, and secondly, electrical tape goes hard over time and the wiring harness looses it's flexibilty, no such problem with Tesa Coroplast.
