What a scumbag! I would have tazed him, and rammed his head into the door (making sure I dented it) while trying to cuff him. And of course an impound.

Wow. What a schmuck. He could see they were writing a ticket, just suck it up and then move on. That was one of the dumber moves I've seen.

The rule of thumb is if you move the car before he's done writing it you're off the hook. The officer actually moved to block him in after it was clear that the guy was going to move it. It was a cheap thing for the officer to do, though I'm sure he stood within his mandate in doing so. The driver, though, should've taken the ticket instead of pushing things, let alone run over a police officer's foot.

I wonder what these cars sell for off the impound lot?

Quote from guy who filmed it:

via youtube:*I was walking around Soho, NYC today when I stumbled upon this Ferrari 458 Spider with a cop writing a ticket next to it. I started to record the situation because I thought it’d make a cool video, little did I know what I was in for. As soon as I started recording the owner of the car appeared and got in it. He slowly started moving since he refused to accept the ticket (the car was parked in a hotels valet zone and the hotel valet had the keys, I myself don’t understand why the cop was giving him the ticket, it was approved by the hotel that the car was parked there.) The cop then told him to stop but he proceeded to move forward. Now at this point I believe the cops foot was under the front drivers side tire. Yet again the owner moved the car forward and apparently he somewhat ran over the cops foot (or at least that’s what can be made out from everything in the video, others at the scene claimed otherwise.) This triggered the cop and he slammed his hand into the drivers window and proceed to open the door (notice how many times he bumped it into the taxi cab) and pull the driver out forcefully. The driver was then thrown on the ground and handcuffed and arrested. The owners girlfriend seen in the video is also Stephanie Pratt from the MTV hit show, The Hills. The car did suffer some damage, paint chips on the door from when the cop slammed it into the cab and some scuffs by the engine bay shown in the last scene of this video. Pretty crazy situation, I was definitely at the right place at the right time!

the guys is a total douch bag, but my money is that this guy gets off clean...AND he's probably has a case against the officer for using excessive force, damage to the car.

Guys, I totally disagree. The driver was a real jerk to move the car but the cop moved into the cars path and forced getting hit(watch it again!). New york's traffic nannies are the lowest common denomenator and I don't give them any bennifit of doubt. If I jumped infront of an illegally parked cop car could I pull him out on throw him o the ground? Hell no!

The cop had this guy's plate/vin and could have gone after him for many infractions; no reason this should have escalated to this.

In my opinion 60+% of the police force is redundant; we need police taking care of real criminals not nannies beating jerks for not having some silly sticker.

I saw a new Porsche 911 ticketed in front of my building for "parking too far from the curb" last week. My tiny A4 was parked right behind, sticking out further and he was ticketed?(neither of us were wrong). I left a note on the porsche saying i would testify that nothing was wrong, leaving my name and ph#. My note, however, was removed less than an hour later by someone. The very next night I was sited for parking too close to a fire hydrant. Rule is 15 feet of clearance and I was 21 ($115 dollar ticket) many pics/video to prove. Retribution from the police? I think so. I believe the nanny took my note and got back at me for it the next night. If you have a 911 convertible and got ticketed on w. 87th st please pm me. I am convinced there is police bias against people who are perceived to be rich.

I used to work for a rental company and drove many exotic cars into Manhattan and was constantly hassled by the police: pulled over 4 times in Manhattan for "a seatbelt check" in 5 months.

The police have no one to report to and are big enough that there is no way a political candidate can take a stand against the police "unions". I'd vote for anyone promising police reform and accountability.

Not for nothing, but considering how little the car moved I'm even doubting how "hit" the officer was. The car definitely didn't go completely over the cop's foot and he was able to pull his foot out, so really how much of the weight of the car could've been on his foot? Also, the driver couldn't see his foot and i'm betting he could argue the he'd never imagine a cop would be dumb enough to use his foot as a chock(not saying that's a legal defense because i don't know if their needs to be intent for an "assaulting and officer" charge).

Both are wrong but only one goes to jail, that's not right.

How many months of workers comp does that cop get for slight pressure on his foot? I say six plus and a promotion.

Not true at all about the "off the hook" comment. A ticket is in lieu of an arrest. You can be arrested for passing a stop sign...etc. In this case, if the violation was witnessed by the officer, it can be written. If the guy takes off, the cop should have let him leave, and mailed the ticket to the registrant, it's just a darn parking ticket geez. It's not worth all the hassle.

He was a "real police officer", not those traffic nannies. Take a look again, he has a gun. NYPD Traffic officers don't carry guns, and you are correct, a lot of them are not the sharpest tool in the shed. All that said, that was really dumb to stand in front of the car. I guess he expected him not to move. He should always expect the unexpected. that was just bad tactics, and I think he let his guard down because he figured it was an expensive car. I'm willing to bet a million bucks that if it was a 1986 Honda Accord with rust all over it, custom rims, and a wing on it, he would have never put himself in the position to get hit. Shame on the Police officer. I hope he is OK. When I was younger I had a car run over my foot...It freaking hurts!!!

See above post. Yes it was dumb of the cop. That does not excuse the dirt bags actions. He may get off on an assault charge, but I'm sure there was also a reckless endangerment, and a resisting arrest charge. A lot of incidents where cops get hurt definitely stem from stupid little things (like a parking ticket) and escalate from there. Some people don't know how to take their lumps, and move on.

Excessive force for sure. What is the kid really guilty of? True he shouldn't have moved the car but the cop intentionally positioned himself in front of the car when heard the engine start. The driver is being treated like a criminal. No reason for two cops to throw him to the ground and then cuff him. I think he has a case here.

No one said anything excused his actions. The biggest problem here is how low the hiring standards of the NYPD have fallen.

The cop says 'stop', loudly multiple times. Very foolish of the guy to keep rolling.

From my experience, as long as you get in and pull away before the parking ticket is on the windshield you're off the hook. (I'm assuming this guy was ticketed for parking.) I've done this several times in NYC and there's been no follow up, no mailings, no court summonses, etc.

I'm sure they're within their rights to make an issue of the parking violation after I pull away, maybe making an issue of the fact that I've left before they were done writing it up. But they haven't done any of this in the half a dozen times or so I've been in that situation. Maybe I'm lucky. Maybe one of the advantages of driving a clunker into Manhattan for work and most play is that I don't get the letter or the law treatment.

I think he got in the way so that the driver wouldn't move the car.

How eager should someone be to get out of a car when ordered to get out of a car by a police officer who's having a temper episode, is screaming, cursing and banging on the side window with considerable force? He pulled the guy out of the car in a millisecond with enough force to make an adult male look like a rag doll. I don't know the law, and it's easy to read things into pictures and video, but that seemed excessive.

The guy was a jerk and had poor judgment -- BUT I DOUBT the cop had his foot run over - he didn't yell and it didn't show on his face when the car moved - I think he was pissed the guy moved the car and after the fact he said it ran over his foot - look at the cop walk around after - my kids are better actors than that...

The cop probably gets to be on disability for a few weeks or months on taxpayer dollars -- and can laugh all the way to the bank......

He should have done what the cop told him to do....not just get in the car and try to pull away with the window shut without talking to the officer as the cop is telling him to stop multiple times. It looks like to me that he just kept ignoring the officers orders. On the street the police officer is the ultimate authority if the cop did something you feel is wrong the courtroom is where you take it or to internal affairs. On the street you are going to lose!!! This guy is a prime example of that.!

The jerk never should have gotten in the car. If, as the videographer said, the car was in a "valet parking" spot and the valet had the key, he should have simply pointed that out to the cop, and if the cop kept writing the ticket, the jerk should have taken some cell phone pictures himself, and then either fought the ticket or simply paid it. If you can afford a brand new 458 and your girlfriend is a TV celeb, you can afford a $100 parking ticket. It comes with the territory in NYC. Now, he is probably being charge with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, attempting to evade, and several other things, and will end up spending many thousands on lawyers to get out of it. Plus, the cop is probably suing him for his "injury" (did you see him limping around in the later part of the video?). The cop was totally out of line, but the jerk should not have escallated the situation.
