I was at the local dealers today to drive some Gallrados and the aventador. As a wee thank you to the them, i took a lot of the staff and a few others out for a wee drive in the QV. They are obviously used to the newer cars and their performance.

General reaction was awe and sheer joy! Every one of them couldn't believe how fast the car was. Not that far off the G. The G like any modern is cleaner and smoother through the rev range and feels slightly faster. We were not going that fast so the G's better aero dynamics and power at the top end didn't figure. I reckon the G could leave the QV above 120mph. It felt very secure on the road, brakes much much better, ride tighter but genreally not much in it with the SL and P spyder. The drivers attempting to follow me in the Spyder could only hear the QV! lol.

The A was clearly quicker all round, but not as quick as I though it would be. Seems strange to have a short throttle travel compared to the QV. I thought the dealers had put a stop on it to prevent people going flat out! Not that I did! Secondary ride quite unsettled but to be changed for the 2013 model year. Very planted but it should be for a 220mph car! Liked the blips to down change but still isn't like the QV popping and shooting flames out on the overrun.

Anyway, the driver who accompanied me and others in the A just constantly grinned the whole time he was in the QV.

People were amazed by the 'real' noises from the car and how noisy it actually is!

I took out an ex serviceman sadly blinded in Afganastan. His family have Porsches. Again the whole aural physical feelings and smells were overwhelming for him. Like the others he just grinned and laughed the whole time.

The dealer said he was glad i brought the QV as people seemed more interested in it than the moderns and provided interest in the heritage and line of the car.

Would I swap the QV for a modern?

Nothing still has the visual drama of a CT. It will be a generational thing, but no one says they have always had a poster of a G on their wall! I could easily live day to day with a G spyder. The carbon seats on the SL and P versions are to unyielding for daily driving but otherwise a nice wee car.

Guess what i still have in the garage! lol. Great day and so kind of the Graypaul the local Scottish dealers to run the event. I think modern supercars are that. Modern. Old supercars are that too. In the context of the period they are super cars! I just wonder if in 25 years time people will contextualise the G and A in the same way?

Just continuing with my research, all in good time!

It does not seem like the 25th Anniversary was almost 25 years ago.

I hope I am not boring people by posting these magazines. Personally I think they are such an invaluable resource of the cars in the period, so, here goes, a few more...

WOW... look at that. Very odd looking to me. Almost seems "wimpy". I'm sure part of it is
that i have never seen anything other than the "normal" wiper, but this looks entirely wrong to me. Great to see a developing photo like that.

On the Doyusha 1/12 scale model car, they used the LP400 kit to make the LP500 version. They added the flares, wheels/tires etc but the builder must further cut the rear wheel openings to clear the wider tires. I also believe that the shape of the flares on this model are inaccurate due to the reuse of the LP400 body.

This is a 1988 Pre-Anniversario QV I believe. Can't tell are those Anniversario wheels on the car as they have a chrome lip on them or after market? The car looks like it's sitting lower to me...
Also what are those secondary small mirrors doing attached to both outside mirrors? I believe I know what it's there for, but I've never seen that before!

Sorry Geno. I don't have a full side shot. This pic below is the best I have. I did notice the mirror extensions as well. I hate to guess an age but the driver appeared to be in his late 60's or early 70's. But I imagine at any age, the extensions would assist in those difficult lane changes with this car.

Great action shots, thanks for sharing.

I believe that's 12334, a 88.5 car living the ATL area which wears Annivesario wheels. Great spot!
