    Question for you (and anyone else that has Taylor wires) are they "Ferrari red"? I ordered some and their color is quite disappointing. They're somewhere in the middle of the red-to-maroon spectrum and I really don't feel they're appropriate. All of the pictures I see online they look bright red. True?

    they arent a perfect match, but they are pretty damn close, and the superiority of the inner element more than makes up for it IMHO. I had a 308 concours judge tell me he wouldnt ding you points for the larger wire and the slightly off color....

    I've never been interested in entering Concours competitions and it's a good job too because my response would have been 'Get a life'... can they mark you down for what you say too?

    I second the Superformance dustcovers if you have none. I don't know of any other types; you may need added wire sleeving/tubing if the hole is too big.

    I'm doing the same work next month on the 328. I am considering not using extenders and attaching the Taylors directly. Some have complained about extenders; so I can try both methods and will see if a difference shows up. I will use the OEM covers and added insulation to cover the holes, apply stress relief and center the wires. BTW, my current extenders are fairly new, so the experiment would be applicable to actual extender replacement, not age.

    However, to directly attach the wires to OEM NGK DR8EIX Iridiums, with the threaded tip only, I will be installing these tips onto each plug:

    BTW, my Taylor kit (73255) had an additional length of wire to facilitate attachment from distributor(s) to the coil(s).

    Since you didn't show, I assume you are going aftermarket w/o distributors. If so, which ignition system are you using?

    Gee, sorry, dude, I just threw 8 of those away off my plugs! And I don't like you enough to dig around in the big garbage bin for them. ;)

    So, the color on your Taylor wires... bright red or "muted" darker red? (As I continue to hijack the thread.)

    I would call Dave Helms at Scuderia Rampante. He does so many wire sets he's likely to have some red dust covers laying around

    Rob, I'm using the electromotive system with their coil packs.

    I was told from Nick that I should install the spark plug wires with the straight ends into the valve covers and the angle ends into the coil.
    I wonder if I can go the other way. The fixed ends will look better in the coils and won't get lost in the valve covers.

    When I fixed my insulation for the ignition leads I bought sleeves from the Elfa company.
    The colour is not quite right - they are red-brownish, but I think they look good anyway. The silicon sleeves are reinforced by a glass fibre mesh. This allows the sleeves to very easily accept bumps or bends on the wiring. Another good thing is that the silicon is not slippery but instead stays where you put them in the clamps.

    The downside is that there is a slight "folding" in the bends as can be seen in my photo below.

    I think the dust covers will wobble on the wire without the OEM rubber ends. IIRC, the boots are designed to sleeve around the black wire end. One option i have posted in the past is to remove the ends on the Taylor wires, put back on the OEM ends, and use the extenders....

    Aww, c'mon...what 20 hous in a dumpster between good friends...:D.

    That's ok...I bought 40!

    I got red...they look great to me...I'm still deciding if I care about the lettering...the wires are thicker than OEM and will likely not fit in sleeves. But the OEM covers should fit.

    I'll post pics when done.

    or you could leave the spirocore end on, sleeve the OEM rubber end on, and use the dust covers, that would look OEM and would get rid of the extender...

    Thanks for the great pictures.

    I'm a little confused on one thing. I don't have anything original saved. The only parts I'm missing, i think, are the extenders and round dust covers. Am I missing one more item?

    It seems you are mentioning 3 items.
