    C, do you know how many LP400 Periscopas were made by the factory with quad (4) Carello Driving Lamps??

    This is reported as 1120200 when new in Japan.

    I am aware of one other car, and I think I sent you a pic of it a few years ago coming down the assembly line. It was Blu Metalizzato. I asked Claudio Z, and he said yes, they did some, but he could not say how many.

    We have recently been debating the car on EBay for $96,000 and the question of restoration costs came up. Here is a part of Gooding's writeup on the car:

    I thought so too. I know this is an un-restored example and in as-new condition so it deserved a premium, so I offered a huge one!
    Eduardo's car was a steal at the price he paid that could not be duplicated. Prices went up soon after. So using it as a comp would translate to me never buying a CT, especially a low body car that was my first choice. White over white is my favorite color combo...

    Amazing how low the low body sits compared to the QV. As Jeff once told me when I was in talks to buy his car, "the QV is like an SUV" versus the low body stance...

    Well, the Countach LP400S S3, LP500S & QV have a stance that is still visually focused and the car remains what would be considered low compared to most cars on the road.

    Although they look so cool close to the ground, I can tell you that owning a low-body has its heart-stopping moments, and the later cars are so much more drive-able, as Emilio who went from an LP400S S1 to an LP400S S3 will tell you.

    All Countach variants have their highlights & low points (depending on what you appreciate) and that is what is so unique about the model.

    Agreed you made a very nice offer and cant be faulted for stepping up.

    Actually, Eduardo's S2 was in line with another S2 (black/panna) that sold this year, and I believe that's where the real market is, with perhaps a 20-30% premium for the type of exceptional car you were considering.

    In support of this, witness this LP400S S2 that has been for sale for over a year asking $200k.

    The after-market side skirts on the white car are not helping, but still, either of these cars should have sold if the price was correct.

    At least, that's what I think. Cars that are correctly priced today are selling very quickly with little deliberation, and this fact influences my thoughts on this.

    I'm not allowed, sorry. The price should suggest you that's is not a mint car, as the usual request for a good car like that is 170 or 180 k Euro

    Ironically enough Ken I stumbled across this thread http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339851&highlight=Countach+wing
    I believe this is the 1986 Red DD Countach that you mentioned from Atlanta.
    I was told several years ago from the Michigan owner that this car was indeed white when it was sold and shipped to the Atlanta Georgia area.
    The then new owner in the Atlanta Georgia area had the color changed to Red, I am not sure about the interior color.

    Since we keep seeing the gorgeous pics of 112020 in this thread, I'll pose the question here. Now, it was my contention that the catalogue estimate was optimistic, but I am curious of anyone else's thoughts as to the true value of this car, and what you think the hammer price will be (pre buyers premium, etc).

    As with all auctions the catalog estimate is a guess.

    We know they spent $250,000 restoring it and it was done by the same Italians who worked at the factory when the car was originally built in 1975. Top Motors Di Salvioli L, Via Galvani 20, 41015 Nonantola, MO, tel (+39) 059549224. Orazio Salvioli was the factory foreman throughout the entire Countach production from 1974 to 1990.

    Hammer price is an even greater guess!

    Given the nature of auctions, I will not be surprised if it does not reach the estimate, but I wont fall out of my chair in surprise either, if it reaches or exceeds it, the latter scenario likely if multiple parties determine this is an unrepeatable opportunity. I guess true value will be determined upon review of all of the above. Sorry I cant be more specific, I find it difficult to value this one.

    Good answer. I wonder why he needs an answer now. I recommend to simply wait for the auction result. It's only a few days until we know it... This is a great car, this is much more important than value discussions!
