He won't notice your post until Friday if at all.
All previous E@RTC notices have been merged here. Please keep future notices of this event on this thread. This allows interested parties to subscribe to this thread and non-interested parties to ignore this thread. Thanks.
Given what the moderators have just done to this thread, how important is this thread to FChat members? We will discontinue if participants are getting their information elsewhere.
It seems to me you're demonstrating pique at not getting your own way. You're welcome to take your marbles home, but I would suggest that the merge is not the kiss of death you seem to fear. These two threads are for Sacramento and Bay Area gatherings that use the same format, a single continuous thread, and they seem to be active and vibrant. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309539 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=252738
As I said in my PM, we're highly weather-dependent and therefore a different animal. People mostly want to know if we're on or off without going through a lot of trouble to get the info. We'll see how people respond. As for the kiss of death comment, we post in several places and traffic has been steadily decreasing in the Northwest section, especially from the Seattle area for some time now as it is. We were never asked our opinion first.
I rarely use the forums much except for posting my photos in the car specific threads. I've been using the facebook groups/pages we set up for about a year now and hardly use the forum threads.
I sort of like the idea of one common thread, but I can understand both points of view..... I remember it was always tough finding info about our Italian Concours, because we'd have about 10 people starting different threads! LOL! Like James, I get my E@RTC updates from Facebook, so it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. With a common thread, it would be easier to see a cronological order of the photos people post, but harder to find out if the event is on or off due to weather. Mike
That's just it Mike, we don't see people posting on this thread anymore and frankly it's just one more thing to deal with. We see it as an update if we're on or off, and people tend to see each event separately, not just one continuous event. This is the feedback we received very early on. We originally started as just one thread, but got too many complaints when all they wanted to know is if we were on or off that Saturday. We think the proof is by the number who read the thread but don't post. They got what they were seeking; what's coming and if we're simply on or off. I don't want to drive more question traffic our way via PM because they can't find it on the thread. If they are not using this thread at all and we are viewed as just spam, we will stop posting updates here. As you know we have enough on our plate as it is, especially with the upcoming stuff we're testing now.
It seems like a fair number of folks still view thread(s) here. Some folks don't like Facebook. I usually try to share my photos here. Have a good one.
I completely rely on seeing a weekly update as a separate thread. I seldom respond but read them every week - tells me what my plans are for next Saturday Munging everything into one thread will force me to scroll around to find the post telling me if we are on or not. How about taking past weeks posts and merging them into the master thread and then having a new thread for the upcoming event?
A single thread makes it more difficult to find relevant content. People want to know if E@RTC is on for a given Saturday and it seems like it'll be more difficult to find that information now. Also, if someone misses a week and wants to check out photos and replies for that week that will also be more difficult to find. Cheers.
I like the old format. Single thread announcing whether it's on or off that weekend and also a little teaser about what is going to show up. It's easy to just browse the headline and you don't even have to open the thread if you don't feel like it. I don't do face or twit so this is the place that I get the info. I suppose I could always go to the official website if we continue with the merged content. Sometimes I look at the pics from a specific weekend and it's easier to find them when they are grouped separately. I definitely won't spend the time looking through the merged thread. david
Personally I think it was a mistake to merge all the threads into this one thread. I don't even understand the point of doing just that especially without discussing this idea beforehand. Can you say, "big brother" is watching...I think that was an unfair move on the moderators part. They were flexing a bit too much control. As Tommy pointed out, it's important to have separate threads for each event because the event itself is weather dependent and I'd like to be able to find pictures easily in that one thread for that one day instead of having to sift through a thread that's pages long. This gets a big thumbs down from me.
The change is heavy handed and as far as i can see, unnecessary. Leave it like it was. My 2 Lira, Ciao, FGM
They get WAY better weather down there so no need to worry about the weather cancelling these events. We aren't quite so lucky up here unfortunately.
Thanks for the feedback. Since we began, we've never had one single person request that we merge the threads. In fact, it was requested that we split things out in our first season for the reasons posted so far. I've asked others to post their opinions either way. If there are some in favor of a single thread, please speak up.
