I prefer the single threads, but I will keep looking here or I will have to figure out facebook. I check a few sections of Ferrari Chat daily.

    Thanks.

Here are a couple more continuous threads, from states that have winters and seasons.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=350653

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=192586

Consider using the "new post" button to the left of the thread title. See below. Also using "Subscribed Threads" in Quick Links shows you all threads with new posts. No scrolling or searching required.

If the only advantage to separate threads is effectively an announcement in the headline that the event is on or not, then that usage really doesn't fit with the objectives of a discussion forum.

    Yin,

I really don't get your state of mentality...the majority have already expressed their desire in having separate threads but yet you persist in telling us that we can't have what we want? Isn't this a community based forum? In fact, if you folks continue this draconian treatment on us forum members then many might chose to go elsewhere. We people make up the success of a forum do we not?

I don't use facebook or have a facebook account. I get my updates about E@RTC here. Having multiple threads or one thread doesn't make much difference to me.

Either way see you all Saturday.

I agree with Jason. It's the nature of any business, you need to listen to your customers or "go the way of the Buffalo" as they say. What is the use case for a single thread? I respectfully disagree with the single thread stance. Cheers.

You need to be aware that what is posted here is not all that is submitted to us. Thanks.

+1, I like the single thread that Tommy has been doing the past few years, it is easy to find, and get the latest info quickly.

Yes, and I'm getting a steady stream of private comments of people offended that this was done without asking the participants first. They consider it a slap in the face.

From what I understand, all of this was done because someone complained (of course they never came to us directly, nor do we know who they are) that we looked like spam because of multiple titles, even though they are all different dates, correct? My hope is that people post their opinion here rather than just send me a TM, or email so others know where members stand.

I only make it to one or two of these a year at most. It did seem to work well with the individual threads.

What is the reasoning behind merging all of the threads in the first place? It doesn't change bandwith totals or anything else to make running the site better does it?

Not being a regular my opinion doesn't carry much weight though.

Apparently someone complained that we were spamming. Yea. They didn't complain to us directly and nobody discussed it with us prior to making changes. We were just as surprised as anyone to see this an issue after four years.

I guess it's like the corner restaurant that doesn't know who's opinion matters most who then makes changes only to wonder a little later where all the customers went. We'd be fine with it if there was wide support and we had someone to manage the questions that then come up, but we're not getting much support in favor in spite of my requests in other groups, both on our Facebook page and in the private discussion groups. As it stands, most are in favor of not updating this section as we now have a website up and running that allows us real time edits of events. It comes up when you Google us.

I'm heading to Monterey, etc., on Saturday and so we'll give this until tomorrow before we make our decision as most seem to check our status on a Friday.

I agree with Tommy to have separate threads for each week, way easier to get the information for people that want to attend. ERTC often have days that featuring a certain brand like the Ferrari day, Bugatti day, Jaguar day, McLaren day and the up coming Porsche day, it will attract more owners and F Chat members to attend if they can easily see it on the title instead of going through all those pages, not everyone is good at how to use a forum or which button to push to subscribe, a lot of people like to get the information they want right away, not learning or figuring out how to use the forum.

I looked at both thread. First, try and find the next event on the first link. You can't. You've got to wade through lots of chatter to find anything. How is that helpful? That doesn't retain participation. On the second event, it's a monthly event and we're weekly. There is a huge difference in how resources are pulled together to do it consistently week after week without confusion. All of this to make who happy? I get the impression FChat would rather displace E@RTC's participants than deal with someone who's not identified themselves about a complaint we've never heard about after four years of posts.

The Northwest section for Seattle area participation is nearly dead and based on

    This new format sucks.

It's a waste of time to have to read through tons of chatter that I'm not interested in to try to find out what's coming up next week.

Please change this back to it's previous, very successful format.

    Thank you.

I agree with the others, when I look in the NW section for events,I as well dont want to wade through a bunch of other posts to find out what is going on currently. The weekly thread worked great,it was quick and easy, merging the threads is a great way to discourage use.

This is the liveliest I've seen this thread in a long time. I'm glad to see people still coming to our thread for updates here.

I'm currently traveling in SoCal where the locals take the great weather for granted. There are probably very few car shows and events in SoCal canceled due to bad weather. However, our PNW weather is so unpredictable throughout the year that these —up to the minute—*and frequent updates are a legitimate requirement. During our "car season" this thread serves as great resource for the local car community. During the early days of E@RTC, we tried a single thread on Fchat but were quickly informed by users that it was too much effort to drill through the hundreds of messages just to get to the answer. I'm hoping that the moderators at large, revert this thread back by allowing single event threads.

In response to the spam comments; it seems to me that placing notices on the Seattle thread for a legitimate weekly exotic car gathering probably comes closer to the original charter for Fchat vs the Epic Rack thread in the subscription section of this website. :)

    Thanks!

I vote for a return to separate threads.

So all of this begs the question.......

If one person complaining caused the change to happen, how many complaints does it take to put it back to the way it used to be?

Mike brings up a very good point...are you moderators going to even listen to us? Why is it that one dissenter has more power than many more voices? That's what I don't get...c'mon moderators get with the program.

After getting feedback from participants of this section of FChat, other participants of E@RTC, and the volunteers, we've decided to no longer post weekly updates on FChat. As many of you know, FChat's Northwest traffic (especially in the Seattle area) has died down considerably over the past four years while E@RTC has grown to about 10X during that same time. The majority of our growth came from other sites, not FChat. We posted here for those of you who simply wanted to know if we were on or off, and out of respect to this site because they were with us from the beginning.

As you can see from the thread, we otherwise got little value or for that matter respect from the moderators here and the snarky invitation to leave if we didn't like their stand after four years without a single complaint. Photographers have decreased their use of FChat and subsequent Seattle area post traffic has died off to almost nothing in spite of the fact that we draw between one and three thousand spectators and 100 and 270 cars each week. We have a new website running that's easy to update and we will post the latest weather and event plans there. We're also on Facebook and you don't need to be a member to read our posts. While we regret taking this stand, in light of recent events we'd rather spend our energy where we're more welcome. This message will be copied and pasted into our other forums.

Well actually, I was in the process of asking Rob if he wanted to make an exception just for you guys. However, as your decision has been made, that's now moot.

Sounds good, I guess nothing else for us to work through on our end (we have been discussing in mod forum) since this is your final decision. We'll go ahead and close this thread down and help you by moderating any future discussion out. As you say, you don't need FChat and it has never given you much. Thanks and we wish you the best.
