Speaking of Mulettas, the dirty test car in the foreground is wearing split-rims in 1980.

Next two cars behind it are new cars undergoing final inspection.

Note the Rame Colorado Metallizzato LP400S S2 on the end.

Outside of Concorso Italiano, what other events do people recommend for seeing as many Countaches as possible during Monterey weeekend?

Hard to tell from the angle but they look like Silhouette size rims and tyres 285's - the top of the arch also looks cut but I think that the 345's would protrude even more without spats.

Again difficult to be certain but the suspension arm looks like the A - arm not parallel link but more pics would help.

Raymond, thanks for sharing this car!

Neither the Vaude-registered LP400 nor the Lutziger car (which may be one-and-the-same) are the mystery Geneva-registered car I posted.

    See the comparo images below.

    - The GE-reg. mystery car has the "Lamborghini" badge to the bottom left of the rear panel. Very unusual! Different frim the VD & Lutziger car/s.
    - The GE car has the "Countach" closer to the middle of said panel to allow for the placement of the "S" badge. Not so the VD & Lutziger car/s.
    - The GE car has no rear exhaust valance at all, unlike the others.
    - The GE car has reflector lenses in the rear light cluster unlike the VD or Lutziger car.
    - The GR car has the later Ansa F1 Sport exhaust fitted.

There are simply too many detail differences for the GE registered car to be either the VD or Lutziger car (which I happen to think are one-and-the-same).

This LP400S S3 was owned by a member of the Swedish Royal family, not King Carl Gustaf (who is faithful to Ferrari).

Thanks to Andrew S for sharing with me his pics from Brands Hatch Circuit on the 17th October 1982 at the World Sportscar Championship.

2 red Countach showed up and were snapped in the parking lot within the circuit.

The RHD KYU 40X would have been registered between 1/8/81 and 31/7/82. The YU bit of the registration indicates it was registered in Greater London.

AXI 7836 actually has what was originally a Belfast, Northern Ireland issued registration number, though it was not uncommon then, and is still not uncommon now that people used these as personalised registration numbers on the UK mainland.

    A few observations:
    - Both cars are LP400S S3 in Rosso/Bianco, the AXI car with gold wheels.
    - The wing mounts on the KYU car are bare-metal.
    - The AXI car has a CB radio on the dashboard and you can also see an externally-fitted aerial in the rear passenger-side quarter panel.
    - The innards of the wheel portholes of the KYU car are painted red.

Enjoy this little trip down memory lane courtesy of Andrew.

Love these period images, keep them coming.
