Noise on 355

mine sounds similar, be interested to know if other members cars have a similar noise on idle

 

Couple of things to check:

Listen to the bearings at the back of the clutch housing
Listen to the throw-out bearing
Check to see that the AC pump pulley is round and free
Check to see that the Alternator pulley is round and free

And don;'t forget to check to see if the exhaust bypass valve is rattling

 

Just noticed mine has a very similar sound coming from it. I never really though much about it but since installing the capristo exhaust I seem to notice it more.
Doesn't look like the OP is still very active here.

Did you ever figure out what the noise was?

 

I have the same sound, it's called the engine running.

 

Yeah I am bit paranoid... After all the horror stories on fchat about the 355 it's amazing I even dare drive the thing.

 

My guess is tappet noise... It should go away after a while...

 

Not trying to be mean to the OP, but this made me LOL.

 

I wonder if that still makes that sound seeing as that post was from two years ago

 

it sounds just like the notorious by-pass valve rattle .... or ...... a panhandler shaking a tin can with some coins in it ........... only it runs a little more than 'spare change' to fix the by-pass ..........

 

My guess contribution: bypass valve, heat shield rattle, lose cat material.
