Enzo Ferrari dead, August 14, 1988

Already posted in the Silver section, and I know everyone knows the date. Just thought we should
each pause for a few seconds to remember the great man! R.I.P. Il Commendatore!

 

I was at work in a lab at UAB and my girlfriend called me to ask if I had heard the news. I had not. Left a little early to catch the news on TV and run a tape (no internet then).

I recorded all three networks and CNN's segments. Still have them.

 

14 August 1988 will be always in my mind as a sad day !!!
Viva Enzo Anselmo Ferrari !!! Will be forever a inspiration for all ...

 

I was at Monterey Historics that day. Haven't been back since.

 

Coincidentally, my son was born on that exact same day, and almost at the same hour.

 

I was not even born yet. Still sad day to me, great man who made a lasting mark on the history of automobiles

 

Funny, In Feng Shui...a number ending in 4 is usually associated with death..

 

Does he drive fast? Wear sunglasses all the time? Have a mistress?

 

I had just got back to the house from a few hours of surfing when I saw it on the news.

 

There is something kinda cool about owning a Ferrari when its namesake was cruising the grounds ;-)

 

I miss his calls for advise!, seriously R.I.P. Enzo!

I´m surprised to hear that the Old Man´s death appeared on the news in the United States.

I´d thought that, apart from the car magazines and the Italian media, his death would only be a footnote for the rest of the world.
