I've seen Leno's collection a number of times. He does have an AWESOME collection.

A nice classic Ferrari with racing provenance is a must have in a collection of Leno's magnitude IMHO.

Who knows what he gets next.

Interesting, I remember a British Top Gear episode where one of the guys visited Jay in his garage, and I seem to remember seeing a couple of Ferraris in the garage.

Too many fake Bugattis (by Pur Sang) and modified cars in his collection. I don't think he could deal with the level of scrutiny that the IACPFA would give him if he wanted to show some Ferraris at PB.

End of the day, he's blue collar with money. That's probably the rub that the dealer gave him.

I think that it's cool that he stands on a principle of not dealing with a company that treats him like ****.

Too bad he's missing out on 16M, 599 GTO, 458 Italia, F12 and so on... Ferrari is just on a different level these days!

Not everyone is enamored with the mighty Ferrari brand.
I have a friend who decided he would never buy one because dealers over charge for them. Plus you have to wait 2 years to buy your first new one.
This is a guy who is planning to buy a Veyron (says it's worth the price) but thinks a Ferrari is over priced.
I do understand the thinking but I told him to withhold his decision until he drives one.

I steered him to this forum so hopefully he sees this thread.

If only you knew what you were talking about...

I suppose Ralph Lauren gets treated like **** too -- which is why he doesn't have the world's greatest F car collection? Ooops.

Jay's got his own thing. Good for him. Jerry Seinfeld is crazy about Porsche. Good for him. Everybody's got their thing. Nothing wrong in that.

Not everyone has to love Ferrari. In fact, it's better some don't. :)

    everybody has their own preferences.
i am glad jay doesnt want ferraris since he would be out there boosting the prices even more ! ;)

whether the story of him getting snubbed by the dealer is accurate or not, it reminds me of another friend i had, who has since passed. when he was a young man in the 60ties, he inherited a chunk of money from a relative. he decided to go to london with some friends and ended up staying there and starting a business that still exists (albeit under different ownership today). anyway, so he was about 27 years old, and wearing jeans and a t shirt as he walked through berkely square past the rolls dealership. he saw a corniche (i think. not entirely sure of the model) that he liked, so he walked into the dealer to buy it. they saw this young american kid walking into their dealership looking scruffy and they reacted badly and escorted him back out the door.
but he did really like the car, so he caught a cab and asked the cabbie to take him to the next rolls dealer. he got there and said he would buy the model in question provided they could process it all quickly. they did and when he got the car, he drove straight to the first dealer, and did the 'pretty woman' scene....told the dealer he had missed a sale, and that they shouldnt judge a book by the cover. point made.

i think that is a better way to deal with the snubbing - its not the car being disrespectful, it is the salesman at the dealer, so make him suffer and please yourself.

It's well know how celebrity endorsements enhance the desirability of a product so you wonder how the corporate side of Ferrarri ( whose marketing people knew or should have know of his attitude ) could have missed this opportunity. If someone with his celebrity status AND being a collector of importance were to get ( should be free or a deal at minimum ) a new current model it would be very important to the company.

Many celebrities pose with cars and often get them after the shoot as part of the deal.So it would make since for him to get a free car, some f1 VIP stuff and whatever to get him to embrace the brand. Or even a tip of the hat.

Jay's a great guy and most certainly doesn't need Ferrarri. Ferrari though would benefit from a relationship with Jay. Blame a missed opportunity on corporate not the dealers or salespeople.

Exactly. He doesn't need any Ferrari as they are simply pedestrian vehicles compared the the Duesenberg's in his collection.

No. It's because he can't fit himself and his chin in a Ferrari.

What are you talking about? The fact that a story like this is in the media means there already is a relationship between Ferrari and Leno. To top it off, neither one of them are paying for the airtime. Winning.
