Where and for who were 0858 and 0860 converted into Can Am cars? Were they then run as Privateer cars rather than Factory Works cars?

So all 3, 0844, 0858 and 0860, Can Am cars will shortly be wearing either 412P or P4 style bodies not crafted by Drogo. Who made the bodies for the Can Am cars? I'm asking too many questions of you and must get some books.

Looking back at my old magazines from 1966 and '67, some of the confusion over designations arose because journalists who saw that the 1966 P3s had been partly updated to P4 spec before being sold to NART and Filipinetti, christened them 'P3/4s' although the official designation was 412P.

The original bodies were beaten out by Piero Drogo, who died quite young; his sidekick was named Mario Allegretti and he is still making alloy bodies, including the ones for David Piper to sell on to people who want to 'restore' their P4 or 412P to 1967 WC shape.

What nobody has ever done is recreate a 1966-shape P3, although the original wire body buck still exists.

As these cars are so important to Ferrari’s history in both their original and Can Am states, and their preferred form is their 412P and P4 forms, as all will shortly be in this form, wouldn’t it have been great if Ferrari themselves could have converted them or used the original makers of the parts, such as Mario Allegretti (Thank you, Macca above), necessary to convert them in the interest of preserving them accurately and as 100% authentic Ferrari and to do the same for the Can Am form using the original bodies made with new chassis and engines etc?

That car, as with many of your cars, must send a chill up your spine everytime you stand next to it. It is a marvel.
