Sounds like his Ferrari dealership just sucks. Every time I go to Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale I feel like a king!!!

Yeah, maybe just his dealership. Ferrari of Central Florida were always really nice when I visited. Depends on the dealer...same applies elsewhere to almost any brand. Customer service can make a huge difference regardless of what you're trying to sell.

There's the problem, right up front: he's only a "moderately successful guy." Loads of the merely affluent still line up and beg for 8 cylinder cars. Some of them will even be issued F12s, in due course. As a population they're important, but individually, well ....

    Hard, but true I think.

If he already friendly with Alex in parts why didn't he at least ask him to connect him to one of the sales guys. Not saying that it should have been necessary but a good intro would not have hurt. Arriving in the 360 instead of a Range Rover would have helped too.

I walked into a Ferrari dealer several years ago with flip flops, old shorts and a shirt that had some holes in it - didn't make any difference in my treatment - bought a brand new car - my wife asked the sales agent if it surprised him that I was a real customer dressed like I was - he said he had seen everything and he never made any pre judgements

Another time I walked into a F dealer and he assumed my daughter was my girl friend

I've experienced the same issue at Ferrari of Ontario, I just chalked it up to the ego of the dealership.

I've always had great experiences at my local dealership, Ron Tonkin (where I am a customer), and also at Ferrari of Seattle, where I've just wandered in off the street when I had time to kill.

McClaren are desperate to sell cars. The dealer out here seems to be run with young kids. The mystique, good product and the "even though you have money, you can't have this" is what keeps F on top. There's nothing like telling some rich guy he can't have something as he'll want it even more. F are masters at this.

I've never had a problem at our Montreal dealership. And I've never bought a car there, nor do I service mine. I (sometimes) buy parts there and all of my swag.

Hey guys, I actually wrote that article. Glad to see people are reading it.

Obviously I can't speak for every dealership around the world which is why I specifically focused on the two in Toronto and my personal experiences with them.

aren't those two dealerships owned by the same company?

btw, I've been in all the SoCal Ferrari dealers and both the SoCal McLaren dealers, and I feel the same way. Ferrari = ignore, McLaren = inviting.

Not sure but Roy sold a very similar one for about the same price last month. There's a lot of talk about new ones going for under MSRP already.

A Volvo dealer almost kicked me out of his showroom once. Very bad for my own ego: what kind of person is not cool enough to own a Volvo?

Of course, that doesn´t mean that all Volvo dealers are bastards nor that Volvo is the axis of evil.
