    Heres the issue Adi -

Ferrari is producing more cars today, than anytime in their history - and the emerging markets of China, Russia and India and the like is where it wil be....even if ferrari sales were cut in half here in North America, the cars would still sell across the globe at this steady pace.

So, you see, the article when it references issues with the dealership, really, is nothing new. Im sure the new lottery winner this week, and next week will still go visit the ferrari dealerships, and will be all to happy to drop the scratch needed.

Nice article Bob - but if this was your experience, i doubt by the time you hit 45 much will change. Congrats on your new wheels !

Interesting article. To be honest I wonder if FoO needs to sell more cars. My understanding is each dealership gets an allotment of vehicles. From what I hear, FoO sells many cars. Might it be they feel they do not feel the need to develop their customer base as they know they will hit their quota with no effort? It sure is a strange way to run a dealership.

Personally speaking, every time I visit them, the showroom & shop staff are always friendly and take their time to chat with me, and believe me I'm a very small fish in their world.

I've driven up twice & walked in without a single person ever acknowledging me or even asking if I wanted any help or even a simple smile (even though they where 15 feet away from me)

Many others I know have had the similar experience, where Pfaff was quite the opposite, in fact a very positive experience. I was ready to buy a car, but put off by the bad service - therefore went to a different brand. Period

Rather go to a nudie bar.

Although I like boobs and Ferraris I can only see so many Ferraris without getting bored, but I can go to a nudie bar everyday and never get bored.

So it's all about time management.

To be fair, had you walked the 15 feet over to them and had questions I'm pretty sure that would have gladly answered them. This is not Best Buy where the sales help are constantly asking you if they can help. Sales Commission I suspect is more on their mind. Sounds to me like FoO has very low to no pressure sales. If you wanted help, you could have asked - no?

Do you buy an exotic sports car based on how much a sales rep fawns over you? I would assume that you take time and do your own due diligence way before setting foot in the dealership. I assume that most people buying a Ferrari would be more concerned about after sales service for the vehicle. Parts availability. Top mechanics/techs. The number of service bays. Important stuff like that.

No I don't own a Ferrari but grew a computer company years back based on no pressure sales. Seems rather unfair not to first give FoO a chance to respond to your concerns before making a public post. Two sides to every coin....

FoO's allocation of cars is sold out every year. They really don't need to work to sell cars at all. The service department takes care of the monthly bills. It's a totally different world in that dealership. Just think, they are the only game in the province, and Woodbridge has the highest number of Ferrari's per capita in the world. I wouldn't run after people in the show room either.

This reminds me of back in the mid-80's when I walked in to Gentry Lane (then the Ferrari dealer) in Toronto to check out a 288 GTO. I was dressed in very casual clothes and was mid-20's at the time. The salesman came up, introduced himself and asked if he could answer any questions. I had a few but was in no position to buy anything like a GTO at the time. After we talked for a while I thanked him and mentioned that I was impressed that he took the time to talk to me. He said "sir, you may not be in a position to purchase a new Ferrari now, but when you are, I want you to remember us kindly and return here". While that never happened while they had the franchise, had I been able to, I would have gone straight back there. He made me feel like I was going to be a success, and I will never forget that salesman's attitude. No pressure, just dignity and respect. I have applied that lesson many times since then in my professional career. I've met many salesman over the years who could benefit from learning that approach. My wealthiest friends are the ones who appear the least wealthy because they don't care to impress anyone. Many salesman fail to realize this to their detriment.

Just goes to show that FoO must look after their customers post sale. IMHO that's far more important than whether or not they fawn over you as soon as you step into the showroom.

People here have gotten their Ferrari from that dealer and at least one rather recently. You don't find posts where they voice any concerns or complaints or misgivings about post sales service and support.

FoO is probably unaware of the piece written about them. Wonder if the internet journalist bothered to send FoO a copy of his article before or after it supposedly went "viral"....

Just for the record, I did sent them a email about my bad experience a few weeks after the 2nd visit (this was 2 years ago)

I did try to get their attention, but they where not interested - to busy talking to each other. I could hear one the salesmen talking about his weekend to some of the girls behind the desk & it was quite obvious they couldn't been bothered to help me. At this point, I just walked out, after all they are there to serve customers!!!

True to told, really don't care if they fawn over me or not, but common curtsy of acknowledging a potential customer just walking in the door - a smile, a hello or if you need some help let us know.

I owned my own business too long to find this acceptable - if my staff behaved this way with potential clients, they would not be working for me long.

I only brought this up because others mentioned their experiences and I posted mine. I was looking for a car & truly put off this the customer service, while visiting a few other dealers, was struck by another brand of car and that's what I ended up with . . .

Take it for what it's worth - but that was my experience.

I do post on here you know...

And my misgivings with the dealership hasn't been focused on a single trip, it's been the same story for over four years and is not exclusively focused on me.

I'm not sure if you come out to the cruises, shows and charity events but bring up the subject and people will be in complete agreement with the general tone of the article.

Talk to people within the industry and they'll confirm that Pfaff excels in customer service while Ferrari languishes.

Quite the majority of people on Fchat even deal with Humberview, Granturismo in Allison and Daytona Auto because of bad experiences.

    And what does "viral" mean?

I'm in complete agreement with you, babyvantage.

Along with Bob, I've been at plenty of local events over the past little while and I can attest to the fact that pretty much every person we'd spoken to prior to this article being written (many of whom are well-reputed posters here) agree 100% with the attitude expressed in Bob's piece.

There's a reason places like Humberview are shooting up in sales numbers (and it's not just because of our very own Vasco ;) )

Viral means that it is becoming more popular with a growing number of views. R/TEnthusiast posted "This article was published on our site DoubleClutch.ca and has recently gone viral, being featured on Jalopnik today.". Jalopnik is likely better known than doubleclutch.ca so now more people are reading the article.

My question is more directed at the use of quotation marks.
