There's an F1 section? ; ) Trolls are best starved but you did the right thing giving Jim a heads up.
I do. But this is a thread about "F70 pics." I don't think the path you're taking us with that language or tone is healthy.
Okay I apologize (PC) to anyone that I offended for calling out this little twit Lucky 12 2012, so if anyone is offended by me calling him a Troll, I am truly sorry. Now lets get back on discussion to the F70.
Some apology......... We were on topic until you showed up. Should I ask you for permission to ask what does an eventual Mclaren's lap time on The Ring have to do with how the new Enzo is going to look like?
The real car is not even introduced yet and there are even renderings of a "FXX" version Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And the F12 just won the 2012 AUTO Bild Design award. Readers from 21 countries in Europe voted it Europe's best-looking car.
McLaren's chief designer designed the FXX and MC12 I believe. Very interesting interview with him on the Drive Channel. He showed me a Ferrari design he did that was very good. I wonder if some of it will show up in the New Enzo. I think the project name was "F4". http://insidemclaren.com/2012/08/drive-an-interview-with-frank-stephenson/
Cool video. Thank you for posting it. Interesting how the Italia introduced the Giallo Tristrati and now McLaren are showing their roadster in very similar color.
Jim, what is interesting is that Anthony Sheriff told me the color of the Yellow McLaren Spider was Senna's helmet color with Green flakes from his Helmet color as well. So much for McLaren not having passion. What I respect about McLaren is the drivers from 1980 to present.
I read that the interior was done by Ferrari in-house, while the exterior was PF. Hence why the F12 bears a Pininfarina badge.
O don't care about the Ring but in the latest R&T comparative test, the 458 beat the MPwhatever easily. Same acceleration figures (0-120 mph in 8.9 seconds for both cars... simply astonishing!) but the Ferrari was 1.2 sec quicker round their track and was also better to drive. http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/comparison/chevrolet-corvette-zr1-vs-ferrari-458-italia-vs-mclaren-mp4-12c By the same toke, I reckon that the F70 will be quicker than the super McLaren.
Lets see about that, one magazine test does not make everything final. Many tests where the McLaren spanked the 458. We should be fortunate to have the ability to buy such great cars. By the way, do you own a 458? Mine will be coming shortly, I love my 430 as well as my McLaren, so it is pretty subjective. Its better too own both cars and decide for yourself.
I have read and seen tests in which the Mac was just not up to par to the 458. Apparently pre-production models (strange that McLaren would have journalists get their hands on it) and tests in which the Mac seems to be the better car on paper (which ever that means) but the 458 is the car to have. Haven't seen any spanking.
True on your comments for sure. I love both cars, love my MP4 and 430, also I love the 458, but the Mac is a very different experience, not necessarily better, but its own way nevertheless.
After reading posts all over the internet regarding Ferrari and their rules as to how a magazine may review one of their cars (Ferrari team on hand, prior knowledge of venue etc), I don't find confidence in comparisons between rival manufacturers when being compared to an F car now sadly. That's not to take away from the cars though. Recently saw a 458 in the metal and I must say Aesthetically I do prefer the 458.
Frank is a charming, effusive man. But there may be a bit of exaggeration in the statement that he "designed" the MC12. Another schools says that things were pretty much sorted out designwise by the time he arrived on the scene and that he did a bit of "tuning" for the final design. FWIW Frank tells the story of how he was working on the 458 Italia design when the move to Fiat happened. He says that "the 458 didn't turn out at all as he intended."
McLaren, as well as other manufacturers, also send technicians to the tests. I see no foul play there.
Yes, but the publications, writers and producers in the press have been complaining about Ferrari "fixing" the tests for years (just as they have fudged their curb weight numbers). It's no longer a secret that Ferraris tested by the press are not the same as the ones customers buy.
So is it known what Ferrari does to tweak the test cars? Seems to me you can only do so much to increase the performance of an already highly stressed 125 bhp per liter NA motor. With a turbo motor on the other hand, it's a much simpler thing to tweak the performance.
