    anyone run into this problem?

i try to now open word or a file and get a pop-up window says "microsoft word starter 2010 canot be opened. try again or repair the product in control panel"

i get the same for excel and

i've opened the CP and 'programs' but don't see a "repair" feature to click on

i also looked online, with some differing opinions, one is to reset to original settings, but lose all documents as a result? that's pointless

as it stands i can't open any word docs, which is a big problem

anyone know what/how to fix this??

    thanks

It sounds like Office install (registry) is corrupt not the docs

In control panel next to the uninstall button there should be a change button if you click that you should get the repair option.

Even if you uninstall Office you wont lose your documents.

well, i ended up figuring it out ....maybe being win7 the sequence for repair steps wasn't at first immediately clear

should anyone else find this problem occur, in any office program, here's what worked for me:
    1. Click the start button, then control panel
    2. locate and click on the PROGRAMS AND FEATURES icon
    3. Scroll down and locate the MICROSOFT OFFICE STARTER program. Click ONCE to select it
    4. At the top right above program name, you'll see " Organize, Uninstall, Change "
    5. CLICK CHANGE
    6. When the UAC pops up, click yes then you will see a box that says "Repair Microsoft Office Click-to-run"
    7. Click yes again

    :)
