LH has a big ego, as do most drivers. The problem is that these guys think that their farts are worth millions, as they rush to tweet their every thought--as if every thoughts are something we all can't live without.

I don't do twitter. To me, it is all about ego.

Having finally watched and replayed the event on a large screen I can say that in no way, shape or form was Sunday's accident Lewis' fault. There may have been the possibility of his avoiding it but that possibility is so slight that I can't fault him on that count either.

Lettuce, like Pastor seems to have had a taste of success and both seem to believe that they now have the skills and experience that allows a Michael or an Alonso to pull off such moves.
    They don't.

At last - a post in this thread that makes sense - even more so if you watch the replays in real time and not in 'freeze frame let me consider all the possible scenario outcomes and score each against a huge criterion checklist' mode. To even consider questioning LH on this situation is ridiculous.

One should always question. Particularly those who seem to be above reproach.
Lewis, in particular, doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me but in this case he's in the clear.

Oh, he saw him alright!...... Have you watched his onboard? Lettuce' rear hit his front - Lettuce even initially said he thought he was completely ahead prior to moving over - Big mistake there! It was simply that Lewis had nowhere to go.

If it had been anyone else (apart from the Rev ;)), it would have been a good old "racing incident" and we'd move on. But, 7 first lap shunts in 12 races gets Charlie's attention - Not good..... Hopefully a weekend cooling his jets will do him good - He seems to have accepted it with good grace at least.

    Cheers,
    Ian

+1 Welcome back - Good to have you opining again. ;)

Exactly! It's been said many times that you don't last long in F1 if you get a reputation as a crasher. Lettuce better keep his nose *very* clean for the rest of the season if he wants to be back. The Rev's a little different. ~$50MM allows a little wiggle room! [Although, Frank is seriously short on patience if his guys continually screw up.]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Oddly enough, McLaren seems to be the only team that allows its drivers to have individual Twitter accounts

Really? That surprises me. I thought they pretty much all did. [Apart from the old man of course - He's a little too old for these new fangled 'puter things ;)]

When your daughter has 30+yr's of F1 knowledge maybe then she will have a different view of things. If Ham divulged such info he has breached his contract and should be fired immediatedly. Nothing is ever his fault and he constantly looks for a scape goat. Ron need's to pull him aside by the scruff of his collar and reiterate that HE is the boss and that Lewis is not!!!!!!!!!!

I do not care how much 'natural talent' a driver has, if they cannot stop their crying games ie "Why is everybody always picking on me" BS let them know by telling them that their services are no longer required/needed.

Is anyone really surprised that Hamilton continues to act like a spoiled little brat?

I think it's more surprising that he is still allowed to get away with it.

Pathetic!! It never ceases to amaze me the attention Hamilton attracts, from the armchairs experts.

Yet I bet there is not one single person spouting off and criticizing him, that has half the driving talent he has.

It is so pathetic it degrades this F1 section.

Well, we don't have a first hand view of the inner workings/relationship at McLaren, but it's safe to assume that like any other normal successful/fruitful relationship in the world, there has to always be compromise...

McLaren has probably chosen to make a compromise on his childish antics in exchange for results. Other top teams probably don't share the same level of tolerance, and also highly likely why he's stuck at McLaren.

Are there other WDC winners available to replace Hamilton right now?

Excuse me but DO YOU have half the driving talent he has, NO!

Your not a F1 driver so you are also a armchair expert, YES!

Your response is A-typical of most UK based Hamilton enthusiast as you let your support, which is based upon your location, override your better judgement ie cannot see the truth.

Was Hamiltons incident his fault? Not completely but he did play a part in it.

    ;)

Lewis is an incomplete driver who hasn't done justice to his great gift and may never do so but to me he's more tragic hero than evil doer

While I'm still relatively new to F1, I think part of Hamilton's antics could be pinned to a rough-work atmosphere. Take a look at Alonso back then and now.

When you work in an miserable environment things start coming out of your mouth out of frustration. You don't care what's said because you're not thinking clearly anymore.

As for the wreck, it looked like Hamilton tried to move over to the right slightly, but driving that quickly trying to make even the most modest lateral move could send you into the wall and the wall was right there.

I think you missed the point completely. NONE of us has ANY effect on Hamilton's career...yet the crying and hand-wringing over him is way over the top. Use your 30+ years to change his career arc and it's time well spent. I think she just was surprised people could be so upset about a guy doing his job

Ding! Ding! Ding! McLaren needs to really take a look at how they do things. They've historically fostered this type of atmosphere. I'm certain all of us can relate to working in places that were tedious versus ones that really fostered growth.

So your telling me you cannot relate to Hamilton, he wants to win badly, you tell me why every TOM DICK and HARRY, think they know what makes Hamilton tick.

Nobody does, yet he is the one that gets talked about all the time, he didn't even feature in the last race, but oh no, lets stick the boot in anyway, I actually wish he would stop racing, so as to shut up the know it all know nothings.

He played a part in it, well yes he got got hit by a another driver, minding his own business what exactly did you expect him to do, put his car in flight mode maybe.

And it is nothing to do with him being a UK driver it's just plain bloody common sense, and I would say that about any driver in Hamiltons position.

And yes what Ham posted was wrong I have stated that, he is highly strung, and I can relate to THAT.

Yeah but the difference is that when you post a million twiterers don't read it. ;)

I don't see how anyone can hold Lewis responsible at all for Sunday's accident save those harboring a predisposition against him.
