Hmmm - I think "threat" is a little strong. [Thanks for posting anyway!]

    Seems to me he's pretty much singing from the company hymnbook;

    - We want it to be relevant to road car development and not aircraft design. I guess one of the big reasons they agreed to go to the 6's. Good to hear him say "we will always compete" though - If F1 goes nuts (more than it is already of course! ;)) they could do something else - Dunno what, but *if* they pulled out they'd pretty much kill the whole mess IMO - Even Bernie recognizes that, hence the "special treatment"......

    - It also seems he's in favor of the long awaited flotation for the transparency it would bring. Seems sensible to me.

    Cheers,
    Ian

If Ferrari left F1, Bernie's empire would collapse.

Who was it who said; " drivers come and go but teams endure"? LOL

Luca just wouldn't feel right if a day went by when he didn't take the opportunity to let everyone know how significant he is.

More like every couple of months anymore. Monte is clearly not familiar with the story of the boy who cried wolf.

I kind of believe him this time. If they keep changing the rules towards aero, no in-season testing, and electric cars to appease governments and environmental groups, then what's the point?

Add to that list how they want the teams to pay a lot more to enter F1 ( http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102225 ).

If they push that through, it won't be just Ferrari considering leaving F1!

I would hate too see the backlash towards Luca if he was stupid enough to take Ferrari out of F1. For even suggesting such a move he should be under board review as maybe it is just him and his ego (mainly ego) thinking he IS Ferrari.

We should get Harvey Specter on this ASAP!!

"What did you just say and imply Luca............."

I suspect it's a damn site harder than you imagine! - For a start off you have the pressure of an entire nation analysing every little thing that you and your company do!

The F1 team fails to win a Championship? - your fault!, and you've let the nation down!

You try to modernise the road cars and introduce new technology? - outrage!

Introduce new models? - you've Lost the plot!, nowhere near as good as a model from 50 years ago!

Create a model to appeal to more female drivers? - You've made a mistake!, that's not what Ferrari are about!

Try to create more revenue through merchandising? - You've sold out!

You try to defend your legal trademarks and IP's? - You're a Bully boy!

Ferrari comes under the scrutiny of the World like no other car manufacturer/racing team!, and that is a massive responsibility for one man to deal with!

But as with most jobs/achievements: It's easy when you don't have to do it yourself! ;)

Really, you think he cares about that? They are selling 6000 cars a year, more than almost ever, they are making more money - not EBITA but PROFIT than ever before. if you put the prancing horse on a turd, you can charge top price and PEOPLE will pay for it. when Enzo was around the cars were crap, and they sold every one made.... so now when they are actually useable ... he could sell a yugo and there would be a waiting list.

Monetzemolo is golden and knows it. He could care less if people really like the cars or they win the championship.... dont get me wrong its all nice and all, but EOD its money in the bank and his ego can rest on that.

My point was - he looks terrible, maybe they did not give him any makeup, but his eyes really looked dark - sick kind of dark..... running Ferrar, I'd take the job in a min...

He's 65 years old, does a job that carries more stress than you appear to be able to appreciate, and yes, I do believe he genuinely cares about everything that relates to Ferrari.

I wish you could have his job - because I'm not convinced you last 6 months at it if you really think it's that simple!

Like I say: It's always easy when you don't have to do it yourself!

    +1

Love him or hate him, he is largely responsible for where they are today (IMESHO). Further, in addition to being 65, "his people" (hopefully not the same as Lulu's  ;)) have apparently wanted him to run for Pres a few times...... That's some "serious" people that I'm pretty sure would age me too! :)

I think he's also pretty much always had "big dark circles"....... He's fine. (Hopefully)

    Cheers,
    Ian

And yes, people complain about Luca WAY too much. Ferrari has achieved great things since he arrived, both in racing and the road division. Ferrari had totally lost it after Enzo's death. Luca brought it back.
