With the vast wealth of expertise that's represented on fchat, Newman and I cannot possibly be the only people to have hit a brick wall when it comes to sourcing various parts for some of the older machinery. With this in mind, I'm wondering if anybody lurking on this thread has found a really great shop that can replicate the aluminium coolant tubes that feature in many of our cars, and which are no longer available.

Please add to this thread openly, or PM me. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I'll post a similar request in other sections of fchat.

My first thought is a shop that does mandrel bending.
The trick is to duplicate the bends exactly, possibly through 3 or 4 axis laser scanning?
I've seen automated NC benders in operation.

I think my coolant pipes are anodised, anyone else agree?

Yes, they are. Unfortunately, that's the easy part.

May I ask what the problem is? Any good fabrication shop can produce the componets your looking for. I have replaced mine and made them myself as my TR is on the mend. Check around town for a good fabricator.

I replaced my coolant tubes with stainless steel. Brown & Miller did the work, 704 793-4319. Once they have a set of tubes modeled in the computer, additional sets are fabricated without a pattern.

I decided to make the tubes myself for the project, ill have the material here today or tomorrow and post the results once Im finished with the bender. As nice as NOS ones would have been to have you have to draw the line at some point when asking prices far exceed common sense. There are other options out there as well that make perfect sense if my attempt fails so were good without NOS ones. Thanks for the help guys!
