Ugly rear end that's not proportional. That color doesn't help either.

I dunno, why is it all the cars today either look like they grotesquely accentuated asian eyes or overly made up eyes from some trollop.

The Gran Tourismo look has worn very thin with me already whereas the QPV still looks good.

Asian eyes huh? I wonder what the "asian" members of FerrariChat think about that comment.

    The CAR looks fantastic.

Ah! The new Merak! Looks like a nice addition to the Maserati line. Hopefully, something like it will be built.

Walter, that car is absolutely gorgeous. I love the shape and the color. I can't wait until we get the Alfa version here in the US....the return of Alfa is way overdue. The Maserati version looks even better. Thanks for posting.

Only a V6, thats a shame, the shape in this version is OK but various portions are wrong,
    http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/maserati-s-future-911-rival-will-get-an-all-new-v6-engine-ar131881.html

If it is aimed at the mid market it will no doubt suffer the same fate as the Original meark. Great just vastly over shdowed by Ferrari and the babby Lambo.

And for the record I need to see the Alfa 4C in the flesh as from the pictures I dont like it.
Personally I prefer the DIVA done a few years ago.

I wish that the Marketing people would stay right out of the styling studio!

It wasn't meant as a slight of anyone asian decent. I'm just tired of seeing so many cars with the same styling cues.

I'm curious, which car do you think looks fantastic?

Oh I don't know, a V6 has done OK in the Stratos and Dino 246. This could be one hell of a motor I'd wager. Not a warmed over old or new Chrysler engine usually normally found in their minivans. Compact, lighter I like that trend. They have quite enough huge cars at this point in time. Too bad about the price though ... :(

Too many cars for this market ... won't make money. The Alfa is butt ugly too and is just not what Alfa Romeo is about. This car is not what Maserati is about either.

Weird confused FIAT loosing more money IMO.

I trust the actual car, if launched, will be even better than those drawings.

Such a car is precisely what Maserati needs right now. It will once again connect to its sports and racing history.

A GT3 version will hopefully appear quite soon too :)

What is Maserati all about then?

It can't be more than huge luxo-barges that go fast and drive very nicely?

    Exactly. Of course it can.
Hence I've ordered both the 4C and this forthcoming two seat Maserati. Instinct (and history) suggests they won't be as bad as the doomsayers suggest, nor will be they be as good as a class leader like the 458.
But I bet they will be a pretty decent tool for us mere mortals and they'll have a proper badge on the front.

Everyone will probably know in 3 weeks. Maserati has announced that at the Paris Auto Show they will be doing a "world premiere of a car that opens up new frontiers in terms of exclusiveness, performance and style."

Despite this strange front end the car looks nice...in my opinion! The door/roof of this car at Villa d`Este is inspired by the legendary Alfa 33 Stradale!

Well, I hope they were not talking about this "Baby-QP"......!
I assume they launch the new QP VI in Paris, or....?

Love it!! Looks to me like the love child of an F458 and a GranTurismo! The first image is great, but the second looks like bad art rather than bad design. Proportions of the rear end are unnatural. I'm sure the real thing (if they follow through and build it) will be flawless!!

The prospect of Maserati building a proper sports cars for the first time in decades is very exciting. They do sedans and GTs amazingly well, but a well-executed sports car offering would take them to the next level. BTW, an earlier article back in May talked about it having a double clutch too, which would be an amazing piece of technology to bring in from the F side of the group. Very impressive concept. I want one!!!!

But not a luxo-barge. The Mistral and earlier six cylinder sport-race models is what I'm thinking of. You're speakin' with a long time Bora owner here so while I agree that it's more GT oriented than say a Boxer and certainly a Miura a more modern equivalent would be the NSX except that the Bora had oddles more grunt.

It all depends on the implementation now doesn't it?

A very good V6 will be just fine. Having said that, turbo V6 engines usually have a rather subdued exhaust note. THAT might be an issue as it's ALL about the sensory and visceral experience with a car like this.

I saw an interesting article recently on Maserati and cars like the Mercedes CLS. Basically the GranTurismo isn't selling all that well, but 4-door coupes like the CLS, A7, ... are doing very well.

So I could see a Maserati Quattroporte (big and small), an SUV, an 4-door coupe, and a mid-engined sports car like the one here. But they would not necessarily need a big coupe like the GranTurismo.
