Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

I was going to ask how is everything going to work. What exactly is considered "on site? Inside the track, like in Indy or just outside the track? Are these parking spots for the visitors to park or are they some special deals that are $2000?
So lets say I live in Huston and I am driving there just for the Sunday race. Where do I park? Also is there going to be a customer center/box office like in Indy? If so where is it going to be?

As understand it, ALL public tickets sales, not related to a long term seat, are "on the bus"....there have been brief mentions of RV lots nearby getting permission to off load "shuttles", so maybe there are different buses...but they seem to have restricted public access to on site parking, except the RV parking along that one section of track.

I would love to go thru all those prints when I have time..

I looked thru a few, and plotted one but didn't have the plotter settings correct....LOL!
It's upstairs so it would take some running of the stairs to do the set up....

Ben, thank you for taking the pictures of the track (from 6,500'). Your pictures tell me more about the construction than those provided by COTA. Thanks again.

I thought Tavo said he had those rights... did he give them to Schwantz? Anyway, it does seem from the lawsuit that COTA and Dorna have arrived at an agreement and will have MotoGP at COTA. Otherwise, the lawsuit doesn't make much sense.

Texas Governor Rick Perry was in the Ferrari club at Monza. He said the Austin race is a go and will not be delayed. I said "we've all heard this before about new circuits" and he looked at me and said "Austin will happen."

Looking at the aerial picture in post #4614, it appears that grandstand #5 is built. I will keep my fingers crossed for the completion of all the other grandstands by race time (67 days left). If your grandstand is not built at race time, just let me know. For a small fee, I will let you sit in my seat for a few minutes during the race. This fee will help offset the $25/beer expense.

They can erect all those stands in three weeks time, it's a rental.

Most likely the reason they are not standing out there months in advance of the date.
"Just in Time" delivery, then they will remove them after the event.

Maybe buy permanent ones later, but maybe not.
These days leaving valuable metals in a non secure environment is a risky proposition...

They will be down at the Scrap Yard...:D :D :D

Or, they could ask the state to pick up the tab each year for the bleacher rental......it'd be something the METF could pay for.

They went from asking the State for $25MM to asking for $29MM. Either Bernie's fee went up when they renegotiated the contract, or they're trying to cover other expenses :)
