Would anyone be interested in doing a supercar Sunday here in Denver? Maybe something central for people?

I will really try to put something together next Spring. It's too late in the season to try and put something together this year. It's hard for me to make Saturday mornings work since I attend about 40 car shows a year. I really like evening events!

Maybe we could do a mid month meet early evening?

    What do you call "central"?

North to South in CO should put the event on the north side of CS :)

Well closer to Denver I was thinking. I am sure some business on broadway wouldn't mind parking lot usage. Now just to figure out where.
    But shooting for oct 14th.

    That was my thought also.

The town closest to the geographical center of CO is Hartsel. Might make an interesting site though.

Hartsel sounds good to me, or perhaps we could have it in South Park and call it "South Park Supercar Sunday" - HEHE :)

Now, will I be in CO or not...

Also still wondering what is a "supercar", and if I have to park in spectator parking...

Funny, we think alike!....i asked Jaime (drftfan) the same question at Cars&Coffee. The cars really the same as Cars&Coffee....but a different time/day/location (there is a TV show about it). But, i think we may need to wear Superman capes!

Woodland Park would be a good choice. Fun road lead to it from all directions...

How about Castle Rock. That would be pretty central to many people.

FWIW - I have friends who own a Wine restaurant in Parker - There is also a large parking lot directly across the street that portions could be reserved/roped off I believe. Parker is fairly "central" and easily accessed from the north via 1-25 (Lincoln or E470 to Parker road) - multiple inlets from the South (83 in from Castle Rock, Hess Road, Ridgegate etc. and good access for the folks coming down from the West (1-70 to C470 to E470).

If there is interest I could certainly speak to them.

Still awaiting response to the "what consititutes a supercar" question - would hate to not be able to attend the event if help put it together :) :)

    Cheers

Just a couple of other thoughts from a Colo native (no bumper sticker mind you :) )

=> I would stay away from anything in/close to downtown Denver, Broadway etc. Most of the roads are crap and difficult to get to - parking would be very cramped just about anywhere and the traffic and moron-driver levels are much higher. I really like the southern suggestions (Castle Rock, Woodland Park, Parker etc.) - still easy to get to but much more open. There are some spots West as well that might work better for people coming down from the mountains (PhilNotHill for example).

=> I would suggest trying to make it happen in September if possible or wait and put something together for Spring. Pushing into October brings with it the risk of some pretty flaky weather. Believe me - I have played golf in the morning in shorts and driven home in a blizzard in October - it can change fast and drastically.

I think it would be a blast and happy to do whatever I can to help set it up - Thanks for posting the suggestion.

    BTW - What's a supercar? :) :)

Only if it's got at least one turbo.

I don't know what a supercar is either but I hope I'm invited.

I would go with "Exotic Car Sunday" rather than "Sports" car - that will avoid the lot filling with 911s and Boxsters :) :) (former 911 owner BTW so no offense intended).

So since it was a common thread I will throw out my .02 on Supercars versus Exotics. Again - just my OPINION - might make a good separate thread or poll:

    I own a 355 GTS - My dream car and IMHO one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever created. I consider it an Exotic but not a Supercar. Same goes for 360s, 430s, 458s, 550s, 575s, 599s etc. To me Ferrari made 3 1/2 "Supercars" - F40 (1), F50 (1), Enzo (1) and 288GTO (.5).

Porsche makes awesome Sports cars - no Exotics - one Supercar - the Carrera GT

Lambo is tough - IMO Gallardo's and most Murcielagos are definitely Exotics but not Supercars. Suppose one could argue the Super Veloce's and Reventon's are Supercars but I consider that mostly trim packages on an Exotic more than an actual completely different car.

Mercedes - SLSs are Exotics - SLR Mclaren is a Supercar

    McLaren - MP412C is an Exotic - F1 is a Supercar

    Bugatti - Veyron - Definitely a Supercar

Then you have the Saleen's, Pagani's, Koeniggsegs (sp?) that are all Supercars IMO

    Thoughts? Disagreements? Additions?

Might be a fun thread :)

288GTO is a full Supercar in my opinion and any Countach is a Supercar. As far as Lambos: Muira is 1, Diablo is .5, Murcie is .25, Aventador is .75.

Anyone who shows up in any homologated version of any FIA rally car counts as a Supercar. But it has to be the homologated version.

By the way, if we limit it to Supercars, the parking lot will be jam packed with like 3 cars. So it should probably be Exotic Car Sunday.

I was only stealing the name from the California version. Believe me it isn't just supercars. They had Porsche week one time. Parking lot full of 356's are certainly not supercars.
It is just a different name for a gathering.
Any and all performance cars are invited.
