Egad. A reminder that this is a lightweight supercar with a power-to-weight ratio comparable to contemporary Ferraris but without the technology to keep you out of trouble. And turbo lag to boot, and who knows what tires.

OH F**** where is that???!! Seriously that sucks and I hate to see it. I drove mine in the rain and its fine, its not the car but the driver. Just stay off boost.

Looks repairable and hopefully no one was hurt, other than an ego and a pocketbook.

Perhaps old or cold rubber played a role in this as well. Mike glad to hear that you got the 40 back, how long did that take 30, 40 years? :) I'll be up in your neck of the woods soon, I hope you're around.

Oh the irony of taking a photo of a crashed F40 from the driver's seat of a Viper in the rain.

Looks like one side of the lower valence up to where it frames the exhaust.

I'm thinking it's the F40 that wrecked here in Vancouver after the Luxury and Supercar weekend

I like the firefighter in the video. "Nope, this is pre airbags" Ha. Looks like it has DOT type racing tires on it. Very little tread. I would imagine if there was rain then it would be a nightmare to drive with those tires.

to be fair you must have insanely grippy tires as they seem to cling on to the road even when the car is upside down!

Of course it's not going to crash in the rain - those new tires even let me drive upside down!

Let me see what I can do about that pic. I didn't catch it last night.

FWIW, the real reason you don't want to drive your F40 in the rain is not because of crashing but rather because if it's real downpour, due to the position of the intakes, the water can start saturating the air filters and if you use the OEM paper filters they don't seem to bounce back that well. They kind of get rippled and deteriorate.

No, I was trying to drain the wet air filters. :D
