Is anyone attending the Ferrari Concourse on Sunday, 23rd September?
We don't publicise the concours because we can't drum up volunteers (or afford to pay for security) to control the crowds. We used to have a nice discrete location at a park in Hunters Hill, until one year when some people felt the need to demonstrate their cars' ability to spin their wheels on grass. The subsequent ruts, followed by a couple of burn outs on the street, got us banned by the council.
That's a shame Ian when a few idiots ruin it for the majority. Also a lost opportunity to collect for a charity. As long as I've been a member here in Vic (10+ years), the concours has always been open to the public and has been used to collect donations on the day for Very Special Kids. http://www.vsk.org.au/
Interested in attending the concourse with my car, do you have to be a member of FCA? How do you find out more details about concourse?
you need to be a member, which is easy if you're an owner. Go to the website http://www.fca.org.au The "Join the FCA" link will give you a form, elsewhere you'll find links to the membership secretary's address and the NSW president (to enter the concours).
We're raising money for the Children's hospital this year, from entrants. In the past we've sold tickets to the public (yours truly did this at Darling Harbour when I ran the FNR back in 1990) but it's a lot of work and the profit is thin because you get stuck with unavoidable costs such as venue hire and public liability insurance. I'd like us to do more for charity, its a win/win for everybody.
