PCs are like women - after a while with one, you end up married and it keeps everything about your life stored and at instant recall.

With this in mind, I'm going to try and squeeze ten years out of my '05 Dell XPS with a 320 GB hard drive and a new graphics adapter if I can find one that will increase performance for a decent price.

Current specs: 3.4 Ghz P4, 3 GB memory, 150 GB hard drive, 8800GTX graphics. It runs recent games like Skyrim well at upper-low settings, and I can live with that and a little improvement.

I tried console gaming around 2000, but was already well hooked into the PC.

:) I didn't know about Conan's vidgame reviews, have the site bookmarked now.

I've been playing GTA4: BOGT.... love it.

To me, the GTA series is as good as it gets for a video game.. can't wait for GTA5.

IMO, all video games should be "open world". I hate having to go through structured levels.

Ghost recon is a lot better than I thought it would be. I like the hi-tech theme.

It's a great game. You are encouraged to blow stuff up :D

There is a multiplayer mod coming out soon for PC that looks fun.

Same here. I love the story lines as well in the games, especially with GTA VC, SA and 4 they did a great job. These games you can keep on playing as well. I wish multiplayer worked here in Bots, I'm sure GTA4 with others would be fantastic.

Also playing GTR2 again and still Rfactor.

I preordered Assassins Creed III last week, now getting a 500GB hard drive and a new graphics adapter installed. It'll hold several recent-release game at once and I'll end up getting a good ten years or so before buying a new system.

Computer back with new 500GB HD and evga GeForce 560 GTX graphics card to replace the six year old 8800 GTX.

Gaming graphics and performance increase are beyond what I expected - started up Skyrim again and the video settings changed automatically from medium-low to medium-high, runs smooth, no crashes. Very satisfactory indeed :).

I'll get another three years out of this old rig, no question.

After all that you're only at medium-high? What kind of system would you need to max out Skyrim's settings?

Just curious, the graphics that a PS3/XB360 runs Skyrim in... what PC setting would that be equivalent to?

Probably medium, you can't even touch the draw distance you get on PC with the XBOX version though.

    I'm on Ultra at 1920x1080 and getting ~35 fps with an i5 @ 4.5ghz and a GTX 560 Ti.

I've never been a fan of JC 1 or 2. I don't like the fact that you really can't go exploring or just driving around, it seems like every couple of seconds someone else starts shooting at you.

Considering that I'm playing on an antique-by-today's-standard system: early '05 Dell XPS, Windows XP, 3.4 Ghz single-core P4 processor, 3.1 GB memory - setting/performance improvement on paper is significant, in reality dramatically better than before mods. Well worth the $425 total for the graphics card and the 150 GB to 500 GB hard drive switchout.

I'd guess a new system with quad-core procesor, 8 GB or more memory, and a graphics card a step up from the GTX 560 I recently installed would allow for maxed out settings on Skyrim and most other current games. Not worth the dough to me now - I'm happy with the present system as-is and can get another 3 yrs. out of it.

Can't begin to answer. I've only had brief experience with console gaming - bought a PS2 around 2000 and tried playing a few games but was by then so used to PC gaming that I couldn't make the switch. We ended up using it for DVD movie playback until getting a Blu-ray a couple of years ago.

I do intend to give a handheld console-style controller for PC gaming a try.

Hmm, I only played a bit of JC1 but JC2 they wont start shooting you unless you go to a military base. Just driving/flying around they usually don't bother you. Tho you can only progress the storyline by causing Chaos so it's a core mechanic to the game.

im playing gta 4 now on pc, and the mods for real cars are awesome, i have an f40 as the turismo! but if u put too many modded cars into the game, then taxi's only show up and the same car your driving, really annoying. i wish there was a way to do it better. maybe there is? but i would love to have all the cars in the game be based on real cars

Currently playing through San Andreas on the PC. My old one crashed, and I had to reinstall and do the story again. I just finished the heist at Caligula's, and have "returned" to Los Santos.

Oh, and it has mods. Lots of them. CJ has a Phantom in one of his garages, and in another, a 355.

I got Dead rising 2 on Xbox last friday and have been playing with a friend in co-op. It's hilarious, good stupid fun. I think i played over 15 hours since i got it. Been a while since i enjoyed a game.

I got Max Payne 3 and i hate it. Gonna sell it asap.
