Countach, the ultimate supercar

You may have no choice and in fact many of the cars that left the factory with 205s (all variants of LP400S and the LP500S) now have 225s up front because 205s are not easy to get. In fact many have P Zeros all round instead of P7s for the same reason. Since QVs use 225s, the received wisdom was, why not? They work, although the 'look' is mildly different.

 

Nice collection of toys..had a green ACR for a while, down right mean nasty car that was fun and put the driver and car connection back in it. I did notice the ACR, suppose to be the first one produced in 2008, Red in color, its in the current DuPont mag with an asking price of $299K..

Nice to see we can agree on the same thing about our kids..and it is your toy, your money and as I have said many times as well..drive the hell out of them..and do what you want to your car,. your not here to make anyone else happy......

If I got a dime for every time some one here in the PNW thought I was nuts because I put snow tires on my Lambos and drive the year round...welll you get the picture...LOL..after all, it is just a car, your not here forever and you should enjoy what you work for..

I'm going to save my 205 P7's when someone wants to look at something authentic. lol


I also have a pair of P7's in 195/50/15 if anyone is looking for a new set talk about hard to find!


When I bought the 205's I bought every last tire that collector had.

I ended up with 8 345/50/15's 8 225/15/50's 2 205/50/15's and 2 195/50/15's all brand new all P7's.

I think I'm going to have tires for a very long time.

Yes feel free to use the 225s. One day when you feel like it you can mount the P7s (possibly on a second set of wheels which is what I do) and use them for showing the car.

I agree with Joe thjat having a broad multi marque collection makes you think of the cars differenetly. I know some guys here with 3-10 Ferrari's and they don't rate anything else. Can't argue with the cars they like as each to their own. Each one of the classic marques had their way. It is nice just to try and understand that mindset and the execution of it.

Hmmmm, my 914 was held upright by the doors, otherwise it would have caved in. Roll bars and roll braces would have solved that 30+ yrs ago lololol

Nothing special, just realize that your speedometer will read approximately 3-4% lower than the speed that you are actually traveling.
As if anyone would actually believe in the speedometer in the first place, not to mention the fact that it is now 28 years old. Sincerely Vic

At age 18 months my son could only say four words.


Daddah (tried to say daddy) didn't quite work out. Mammaa that one was good. Dog (uahggg) ah so-so and get this COUNTACH as clear as day.

Daddah COUNTACH every time he saw cannon ball run....

So.... That's what I did for his second birthday got him a COUNTACH. lol

Here's the day I took him and my mother to buy the car.

The look on my face says it all. My mom is like oh wow. My kid is yeah my daddy got me countach. and my face is OH BROTHER.

Since this is my kid's car, I'm going to have to "un-cartoon" the pix of the car. lol



and...... Whatcha talk'n about lambo.... I'm protecting daddy's vipers! lol

225's would be front tires, correct? Would this affect the speedo?

 

I go by GPS speed anyway. Oh but you can't have a GPS in a Countach it's not original. lol


I saw pix of that Miura get together almost every car had GPS in them.

 

Yes the speedometer is driven off of the front wheel. Vic

I thought about this for a long time and I came to this conclusion:

If the mod is cosmetic and no curing a mechanical defect or weakness, it is deterimental. At least it is for me. (i.e: scoops on roof, turbo, 3rd party wheels or incorrect wheels, non oem mirrors etc...)

If the mod makes the car mechanically better and they can be rolled back and it does not change its nature or its look then its ok (i.e. The muira sump, MSD or other ignitions, steel braided hoses, improved cabin insulation, accusump for starting...). In fact they could make the car worth a bit more by providing a driveable setup while allowing a full revert back to OEM). Your deck lid falls in this type. To me, I'd rather have a well cooled car that one which can suffer premature failure from overheat.

The key is to keep the ability to restore to OEM without spending a fortune on doing it.
Some like better insulation dont even need to be reverted as no one will ever see it.

However, if you install a turbo on your car, you change its mechanical nature thus while the mechanical benefits are there, the car is no longer true to the nature of its design.

In my car, I changed the air boxes and the ignition because they are weak IMO. But when doing it my requirement was to do the mod and be able to put all the oem stuff back without fuss with the original parts that I kept. So If i sell the car that way (we are in dreamland here) I would not take any depreciation for what I did and can deliver a strong running car (that thing growls better than before with the sport ansa).
Same if you add an ansa sport to yours. I would say it add values as long as you keep the original part but you are providing a driving enhancement that is part of the nature of the car.

The changes that really can hit are well know: Carbs, wheels, gauges, seats.

I will even venture on a touchy subject: Roy bravos in the S3 when put on sale. This was a value enhancement modification. What Roy should have done to avoid the whole saga is to disclose the fact and say the original wheels were going with the car as well. These bravos are worth a lot and clearly one can use them on an S3 for his pleasure.

 

Ya, what's the story behind that? anyone know? Did the original engine blow and the owner
didn't want to bother with a rebuild? Did he think it was an "upgrade", i wonder?
