what does "certificate of destruction" mean?

while i'm asking, can a "salvage" car ever be rebuilt and cleared for registration again?

Note that it is a "FL" or Florida cert. I'm no expert but each state seems to have different laws and/or statuses that can be applied to damaged vehicles.

Via Google I found this, http://www.flhsmv.gov/dmv/bulletins/2010/TA_R10-04.htm

Florida loves there certificate of destruction,, that means that the car can NEVER be rebuilt and can only be used for parts. A cert of dist is different than just a salvage title a salvage title can be for a number of different things from a stolen car to a complete burn it all depends on the state.

To answer your question YES a car given a salvage title can be rebuilt and put back on the road. As I have stated before it all depends on your state everyone is different.

Also insurance companies send someone to look over a car for a few minutes and they determine what is salvaged there are no mechanics or body men looking these over first it's all the insurance estimator. Then a car might go to the shop and the insurance gets the actual costs of repairs and then it's salvaged. A lot of these cars modern have carbon fiber panels and other carbon fiber parts, while they can be repaired the cost of replacing these parts has to be high I have no clue what that cost may be because I haven't priced any out but I have worked with enought carbon fiber with my aircraft that I know all about it and when a panel that is less than half the size of the engine lid on a gallardo cost $25,000 im sure the parts here are not cheap.
I'm also quite sure there are Not to many companies dealing in aftermarket parts for lamborghini's like hoods and bumpers you know replacment parts for accidents. unlike regular mass produced cars and that's where insurance companies make out they do not buy gm parts for your gm vehicle they buy the cheap parts and still rape you afterwards.
But you need to find the guys buying up the wrecks and parting them out, that way you can get good parts from other salvage cars cheaper than the dealer.

So I must say going to Lamborghini to buy body panels will not be a cheap undertaking and that's why you will see the insurance companies salvaging these cars. Like the black gallardo with the tree I know the adjuster made his determination before the tree was cut down it looks awful but was that car so damaged it couldn't have been repaired and saved the branding of salvage? I think so.

If i remember correctly this car sold on Copart for $ 65K ,, then affordable motors in brooklyn then listed the car on their website for $ 125K , that would be a nice profit , but never a sale so now its back on Copart + its still on the dealers website at the same time . funny how some of these dealers operate , if they bought it for under $ 70K how could it be worth $ 125K to someone ?

Is it just the way the pieces are arranged. Or did that car go sideways into a pole, really hard.

That Orange 07 LP640 was driven a lot around Atlanta. It came to several of our events. I almost bought it in December of 2010 when we traded it in but we ended up selling it to a dealer in Texas. I hate to see it like that. Here are some more pictures of it - http://edbolian.com/?p=4770

I also really enjoyed that Yellow 2010 LP570-4 Press Car. We had it for a long time in 2010.
