My understanding is that the Lp400S engine was very high miles and he simply had the opportunity to replace it with a DD QV engine which he did. I'm not sure of the exact story but Raymond will know.

    Just curious.

What does it do to the value of the car?

Nice video of the Hiroshima exhibition, except that it's a bit difficult not to get sick while the man is walking : he should have walked slower and more important should have tried to keep his camera the horizontal way.
    Anyway, cool to see that.

Perhaps the modifications bestowed upon so many Countachs are why the ones that remain not modified are more valuable? Anyway, cool to see

Well, they certainly like their aftermarket wheels, as we know.

IIRC wasn't the silver Countach living in Calgary (many years ago now) a TT engine spec? i remember seeing the car at the annual world-of-wheels here
the other 'regular' was of course the red/black, who's owner also had the Ferrari's showing at same events, but the Countach was the one used by alpine for thier ads

speaking of Countach's for sale, one just listed by the CRA going up for auction, starting bid apparently of $58K

I mentioned to note cam-covers but either nobody noticed or felt like discussing that.

Also, a few pages back Chris mentioned he checked in with them and they want $250k.

By the way, is there something specific you'd like to find out?

Interesting. I had never heard of another S2 with a DD engine. I'm always very curious of a modified Countach. I guess it's the pro touring muscle car fan in me, or the fact that without Walter Wolf modifying his we may not have gotten my favorite model of Countach, the LP400 S1/S2 lowbody. Anyways thanks for the quick reply.

What about the cam covers? They do look different than what I've seen before.
$250 does seem like a strong asking, but Canepa is known for quality too.

Nothing specific I guess, but the sure is a lot of other Chatter about nonsense in this thread, so why not this car?

    Shoot u a message tomorrow.

    Cam-covers are in non-original finish.
Yes agreed that's strong and yes I have heard they are known for quality.
Yes agreed we should talking about this car as it is out there publicly advertised & available.
No worries about the nonsense, as you can see, its like swatting flies.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of a silver TT Countach. The Bob Wallace TT's I know about are a white/white one, was in Alberta, now with a DD engine out of a LM002. There is a maroon/maroon S2 located in the South, now back to N/A 4 liter trim, but with a custom FI system. There was a red/black LP400 converted to S specs, now being returned to original non S specs. I did a PPI on that car with Bobileff Motorcars years ago when it was at a CA dealer and it had many issues, at least more than my wallet could afford at the time. Also called Mr. Wallace to see if he could shed any light onto the car, but he stated that those TT conversions were done over 25 years ago and he doesn't recall the specifics of the work performed. And recently a member here posted about another Wallace S spec TT made from a non S car found in a barn in New York. No idea what happened to it as the original poster hasn't updated the thread. Of course in Europe, Albert has been TTing the Countach since Max Bobnars S2... Quantity unknown. There maybe more U.S. based Wallace TT cars out there, but I don't know about them. Do you have any pictures of the silver car?

I don't think there was any mystery about it falling off as a topic... i just reasoned it was
because nobody liked the price. That alone will stop people from stopping in to check it out. It looks great and wont sell.

that car looks very good, sure in the 200 range, if she has no flawn.

Cam cover color is not a big problem.

    ciao

if the car is what she looks, i think the asking price is correct. A perfect car without some small flawn does not exist, or if it exists will cost like the UK 5000 S with just 700 km, 400 K USD.

That Canepa 5000S at 200k (50 less than the asking price) looks like a good deal. A lot of people (like me...) like to save money in the purchase but then they spend 100 k (like me...) to put their car in the conditions of this Canepa's 5000 S...

    ciao

no i don't, it was many years ago when i was young, but i was told it was running a turbo setup, which i remember not believing at the time, only because i thought "why would they put a turbo on a lamborghini?", didn't have the engine hood open iirc
i remember it distinctly as silver, can't recall the interior color though? it had an add on rear bumper, and a 5000s model

i never did see a white countach on display there, but there was the red/black 5000s, owned by local fellow, he would display it every year, usually with a ferrari along side (also his)

afraid that's all i can recall

Alberto,DO you think that your car is worth that kind of money? I'm saying this cause you put alot to it and I'm shure the running around and phonecalls to find diffrent stuff can't always be payed for! But is the asking price of the CANEPA countach ''the price to buy'' for a well sorted car? I mean once again that a 5000s will cost that much? or are we just making up numbers just to impress or maybe catch a ''bird'' for that price? I'm trying to bring some logic to this kind of tactic that some people are into doing. A few pages back Joe was saying that a 5000s was good for 150-170 if i remember right, and as a future prospect of buying a countach i am very mixed up!Look around here in europe, all countachs' are for sale for years cause there asking those kind of numbers. Chris.

my car is not for sale, i just write for my pleasure and i do not have any tactic. I do not like the tone of your post.
If I had to resell the car, i would have not done such an expensive restore, i did it as the car has to stay at my home.
Think what you want about countach prices, everyone can have his opinion.
That at Canepa is very good, at least in pictures and yes i think it worths 200 k USD or 160 k euro at current change, if it is so good as the car looks.
    May i have my opinion?
    ciao

yes and no...let me explain, it depends on each different car
to restore, even partially a countach, diablo, jarama...any V12 lambo is very expensive so prices should reflect the conditions

a car that has been fully restored - sorted out with new interior, new paint, rebuilt everything ( like Alberto's 5000S) is worth probably that amount
the issue is that a car in needs of 60k$ or more is (of course) not worth the same
but asking prices usually do not reflect conditions of the cars

seller ask top prices for most cars, even cars with many needs

there was an LP400S for sale in Italy since years, i think an S3
car needed at least 50k euro in worcks for body, engine, interior, etc...
the asking was 180k euro or more
of course it did not sell...

my intention was not to insalt you, i don't understand how you got that idea? i was refering to what you said about your car! that if it was for sale you'd probably go for the 200k$ range? thats it, not trying to tell off nobody if you got upset then excuse me. and if so i would not have asked your oppinion about the europe market! i'm not crazy. just wondering what's going on with these cars the last 3 years!Chris.
