Just got an email from Capristo with details of new glass engine cover it looks like they are producing!
We knew it was only going to be a matter of time before someone would. It's okay, but I don't like how the photoshopped picture removes the Ferrari lettering from the back.
Never underestimate the ingenuity of someone who wants to sell you something. SF did not do this because...?
I agree about the removal of the logotype and I am not that keen to see the engine. Don't know why but no longer feels like a genuine Spider.
I think It will be an option on the Ferrari shortly.I ordered a spider and tried to see if they will have it they said no.So who knows. How much is that from Capristo?
I said a long time ago someone in the aftermarket would make one. I bet this is very, very pricey though because it looks like you have to change out the entire rear deck and wing.
I am not sure, I find this appealing! The most attractive part about any Ferrari engine is the intake/block of the engine. That's what I could see in my F430 Spider. All this shows is the exhaust/muffler! Or the very back of the engine...
Think it's pointless - it's too far back to actually see the engine properly. Just my opinion but I'm happy with the spider as is and have no desperate need to see the engine. PM
I would not be interested in replacing the entire rear deck nor would I purchase a car with the replacement. The Ferrari product (if ever available) is a different story.
I would not buy this also. I think it screws up the looks too much just to see an aircleaner. But, McLaren's glass cover only shows more plastic covers so...
Looks just a bit desperate. Trying to get a bit of glass in there any way they can. And it just ruins the rear deck which is just a fabulous part of the conversion from coupe to spider. The window on the coupe is wonderful. This is just a bit naff.
I think it looks cheesy. It is a pale reflection of the coupe's engine display. The whole rear deck is now too busy and prissey. Pass.
+1 And besides, the glass on the coupe is not for displaying the engine, it's for seeing out the back. Being able to see the engine is a secondary result.
If you have the Sat Nav option, this will not work. The Sat Nav black box attaches to the bottom of the rear hatch exactly where this glass is. It would cover half of the area of the glass anyway and there is no way to attach the box to the glass.
Ferrari made the right decision of not having a window there to just show the airbox. It is pointless if you can't see the intake manifold. A tiny window would just take away the clean lines.
I have come full circle and now believe I like the car from the rear better or side rear view better than the coupe. I'm fine with the glass gone although I did like it.
I totally agree. The Mac still has the window but you have to wonder why. First, there's nothing to see but some plastic covers under the glass and secondly, it adds more ugly cuts in the roof. I think by making an homage to the 246 Dino engine vents, they got it right. Image Unavailable, Please Login
