I was nearing completion of replacing my spark plug wires and luck would have it, the final lead (old one), would not budge from the distributor cap because the set screw if frozen. It tried in vain to remove the set screw but the longer I attack it, the worse the screw is getting. I've applied pb blaster, use a lot of patience, and still no luck. Can anyone offer me a tip on how to remove this screw?

And for those who have been following my previous threads on an intermittent miss I have on my car, I've traced it to this last spark plug lead. I measured its resistance with an ohm meter and it registered nothing, zero, nada. So please help. I'm so frustrated. Thanks.

Whats the overall condition of the cap? If its old, just replace it, might be less frustrating and if you are going to the pains of getting new wires, might as well complete the task with new caps, rotors, and extenders. Good chance you short is in that fouled set screw.

If the screw is corroded, sounds like it is, then you likely need a new cap. Try sanding the top of the screw with 600 grit paper and see if that works.

New caps are mostly repros, IIRC, and don't come cheap. Need to change both after all. Last I looked $500 a pair???

I've got a set of new caps (84 QV Euro) that I purchased from Superformance last month, decided to use my OEM caps after Dave Helms tested them and said they were fine. I'd let them go for $200.00 for the set + UPS if your interested drop me a PM and I'll get them out tomorrow. Kim
