Yes I will be putting tax free Plates too. new car is 2.3M after specs. All prices I stated are after tax.
I will rotate with my other car, should be driving it at least 3 days a week.

If you register your car with tax-free plate you only can drive it 90 days only per year in mainland,,,so,is that langkawi or labuan?

Rm700K is substantial savings but there's the valuable 7yrs warranty & do read the fine lines as they're notorious for NOT covering many things.

In fact, that saving can buy another properly taxed F430 with change or a condo to park the car :)

no mate, Lenggong, Perak is about 45 mins North of Ipoh. Its on the Grik Highway (Federal Route 76) which eventually leads to the famous (infamous?) Betong, Thailand. I'm sure most bikers from all around the country could say a word or two about this "beautiful" place in Thailand as I hear some bikers make a trip there as frequently as every month. The more hardcore ones i hear, the frequency is every weekend! ;-)

Chan do try to keep the 7th free then. my 348 would need some company as mines the oldest in the group and would need some company at the end of the pack! haha....

7 years warranty sounds brilliant but for RM 700,000 more? hmmmm thats a moot point right there!
however i know that Naza Italia is offering a few "warranty packages" for grey imported 458s which start around RM 14,000.00/annum which covers not everything but most stuff on the car. Call them up and speak to Koh or Suresh for more info on it.

Thanks for comments. 14k doesn't sound too bad !

Sadly the 458 I mentioned has been sold. It was the cheapest one I have seen so far and
Came with the specs I liked.

Gonna hunt for another one !

Don't worry Zeo, there will be plenty more & will only get cheaper for modern cars as they age. You can also find a trustworthy dealer to help you hunt for one from UK or any RHD countries. Have fun!

sorry for the late reply. we're meeting at 7.30a.m. sharp (yeah right!) at the shell I think near the pantai puteri hospital. there are two routes now in mind. the first being the drive as stated earlier to Grik which is less than 2hours one way/ 130km. we have brunch and return. then now there's a new suggestion by someone that we do gotong jaya instead. use the north south highway till tanjung malim and turn off from there heading up the mountains! will finalise soon which route it will be!

Wish it was the real deal than cakes :D ah must work harder on toto

I would go to Exq Marques in Kota Damansara but they're getting really busy these days so do call first. Otherwise, should have one or two in Segambut & Sunway area.

From google, there's Exquisite Marques in Sunway Damansara Technology Park, not Kota Damansara. Same?

Should be the same, Rymba Hill is @ the end of the main road.

They close around 7pm but watch out for traffic jams that can be very bad during peak hours from Kota Damansara exit. Coming over from Ikea side via LDP is easier.

Am talking to the manager now on cars!

    Jon,

the confirmed route is the Grik route via Lenggong as I had mentioned earlier. So it would be brilliant if any of you guys could join in for a Sunday morning ride to one of the tips of our country!

well i was asking you to bring your ride and join us since you already got your JPJ issues sorted out!!! so any chances of you coming back this weekend? my brother has already called shotgun on my ride!

as for the PPIs right, i got mine done in Ultra Tune in Glenmarie. No issues with them. Very decently priced (RM170) The main things to look out for is the structural condition of the car ie. has it been in an accident or not, the engine compression and the electrical/electronic condition of the car (which at times will not be quite accurate in one PPI on older cars). you might have read of leak down tests quite a bit on the forums but trust me, not many workshops do it or even have heard about it.

    Hi Bikz,

i know your 348 need a company, not you.. was just trying my luck :) my car is good for meetup, still need some works before can join for any drive. just found out the brake pump is going south..

Just confirmed no India trip. Ipoh trip not sure, depends on workload by Fri evening. If come back will drop by to say hi at the meeting point in Ipoh.. btw, is this quarterly drive?

As for PPI, I'd say compression/leak down test is a must for classic car PPI. I did that for my 944.

tested a mondial qv recently, condition of the car is not up to my expectation.. so didn't send the car for ppi..

well i say since india isn't happening, ipoh should! would be good to catch up nevertheless.....
what do you mean by a quarterly drive? as in the 4th quarter of the year?!
and yes i absolutely agree with you on the PPI prerequisites. where did you get the leak down on your 944. i tried asking around for leak downs for F-cars in many workshops (even at NI) and they said NIL!
hey was the mondial black? what was not up the mark with it?

The compression test was done at Carrera Motors, Sunway Damansara.. tel 03-7805 4911. ex-owner sent the car there..

    pm u more detail..

no larr brader.....its just "a" drive which is done from time to time when everyone is free...its more of a get together of sorts to meet, drive and eat! just like the way we malaysians like it..... ;-)

Carrera Motors- they only do P-cars?

i think so, never been there.. previous owner sent the car there as I insisted compression/leakdown test as part of the ppi. iirc, he took quite some time to look for wshop that performs the test. Not sure if Carrera Motors has leakdown as they only performed compression test on my 944.. I'll include leakdown in my next PPI.. Another way is cylinder deactivation technique..

    Cylinder deactivation technique from rennlist:
    http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/997-turbo-forum/531412-prepurchase-inspection.html
-systematically disable each cylinder in turn and note the drop in engine rpms. If the engine rpms drop the same or nearly the same upon each cylinders's "deactivation" then you know all cylinders about the same, and presumably good. A weak cylinder when deactivated will result in less engine rpm drop off cause a weak cylinder is contributing less to the engine's total output in the first place.
-by disabling each cylinder in turn one removes the power the cylinder generates towards the total engine's output. The presence of oil is the same for all cylinders (and represents some hydraulic drag, friction) but you are looking for a cylinder that because it is weak (for whatever reason) and because it contributes less to the engine's output results in less drop in the engine's rpm at idle. This is more reliable than a compression test. However, opt for both tests. Idle cylinder deactivation test first then if every thing looks ok then a compression test. All are more data points and for the good towards you making the right decision.

    Anyone tried this before?

nope....but it makes perfect sense....i reckon this is a DIY test if you or your mechanic do not have the right tools as both compression and leak downs need the gauges (the gauges can even be DIYed!) ......thats a good post there mate....thanks......
