This is what happens, when a female Lamborghini owner steps out of line. She would experience no pain, if she was just a little more polite, to other female Lamborghini owners . You old farts have it too easy.
Thanks, Brian. We are ok, no problems. Evans things still work very well (A/C lines, oil lines) and are verywell done. I think he is a very professional Lambo mechanic. Your former car is very appreciated here in Italy, at every car meeting there is always someone who wants to buy it! I had some moment where i almost lost the believe to end one day the restore. You helped me a lot with the plate issue, that was very important for me: i appreciated this a lot, that was a bif effort you did. We are all happy and this is ok. Those old car are very expensive and i'm a maniac that wants everything perfect. I ended up by spending 176 k euro, but the result is priceless, at my eyes: may be this is not the car value, but who cares, when i see that shining old black monster i feel myself younger of 28 years! ciao
I suggest you buy it then. I for one am not a basher of a profit maker (except in the silver "prototype" FI car, that was just plain silly). I have said repeatedly about all you guys....you are doing exactly what you're suppose to be doing, making money. Especially when a person or a company ties up a lot of money, for the car, for a period of time and then has to put out more to pay for the work. Buy it and documented it here. No one is going to bash Evans here, if that's who you would use. I think this time you might be looked at as saving the car. Me, for now, I would just drive it and enjoy it.
Joe, I am not convinced about a full resto on that car. I would not do an Alberto restoration on that car. It only make sense on the 1st milestone 5000S injected mule also labeled as "protoptype" becasue after all it was the one that drove countach legally in the USA. IMO this car should be done the minimum for good looks and used as a driver. A $100K restoration on an injected 5000S does not make a lot of sense to me. Its a money losing proposition. Even put back in carburetted fashion , the history of that car will always be tied to injection. I think the sale price is definitely there and the car should sell as long as the restoration is kept to have a total value of the car around $100K. Some cars are pre-destined to be drivers only and I beleive is one of them. I am not saying this in a bad way, just that this car would make a driver more comfortable than a collector. If it cant be done for less that 100-110K, I prefer the grey milestone car at $135K... At least, from people who saw the car, it needs no work and one can brag about its history with Raj . now I would not go to the extend to say that it is a "blind man wet dream". That is quite funny to say that but anyone liking cars would be proud to own a runing CT, no matter its shape. After all, that car has no pink stars or heart or other stuff painted on it.
Roy, this is not a dare but I dont think you could do with that car what you did with the blue one. This is far from a late DD in the USA. Even restoring to OEM. That car was taken from original already. That is done and over. If it were a lp400 may be yes, but a 5000s injected : no. That car could never pull more than $130K in its best restoration.
Some old pics I found. The red car pic was taken at Road America in the mid 80s. The silver one is 1 of 5 non anniversary cars made in 1989. Originally painted black, was repainted to silver ( I think I took the pic in 2002). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just a comment on transporting a vehicle. It seems to me that if your buying a car that costs over 100k, you would want to have it transported over land in an enclosed trailer. The Wagoneers move exotic vehicles this way. Other types of cars are transported completely covered in white shrink wrap for ocean transshipment. I wonder how many buyers assign a full time agent to monitor movement from point a to b, every step of the way, rather than a guy who fills out a checklist at the shipper and consignee ? You'd be surprised at how many expensive vehicles are transported in a low buck setup. Yesterday I saw two gallardos being moved cross country on an open top drive away trailer, they were not even covered with a tarp, one had a chip in the window probally kicked up from a gravel truck. I am learning quite a lot from all of the highly intelligent people here, thank you. I'm not sure why people argue so much, maybe they need to get drunk or get laid or need a snickers bar.
I remember that silver car! Never saw it in person, but i remember the boards (the 3main Lambo ones) talking one week about silver countachs and how great they looked. Next thing ya know this black injected car shows up on ebay painted "re-sale" silver and the guy was wondering why it wouldn't sell. I prefer original colors but if a repaint is done well, and in a period correct color then that is fine imo. Emphasis being on "Done Well". Open the doors and hatches on this car and all the jambs and interior trim is still black. Where did it end up?
"snickers bar" LOL check out the picture of the "silver countach" also.... the Comfort Inn hotel (falling apart mind you) and the 1992 toyota wagon with the hood up and to the seediness.
When my boss at the time(he's a member here, don't recall his name on here though) first got it , even the door air inlets were silver. It was in Cincinnati and I think it went to either NJ or MD . But yes, the paint job was half-assed when he got it , with only the outside of the car being silver.
NEVER cover a car on an open trailer. The wind will wack the cover around and burn the clearcoat. Ask me how I know. Shrink wrap ok.
if the engine-drivetrain are in good order, it could be worth purchasing it, make it a good running one and leave cosmetic interior as it is for the moment
Great point. I guess it is important to note mileage and insure car cannot be driven unduly while shipped!!! I recall some video on one of the lambo site showing about 5 guys having fun driving a black injected CT, grinding the gears on a parking lot and bunring tires, raping the car likegangstas in a dark alley. Not only they did this but the make a youtube video!! it is shocking to see this from so called professionals but it does happen.
is it me, or is that silver filler cap in the R side NACA duct seriously distracting?... and I mean, in a bad way. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Lamborghini-Countach-5000s-factory-FI-car-clean-Carfax-/120985767550?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c2b504e7e I've only seen a few Countach in person but I don't recall ever noticing such a thing in the right-side duct. Is that unique to this car? Or this model year? Or have I simply been blind and/or they were always painted to hide that eyesore?
Yeah, can someone find the video? I did a quick look but did not find. I'd like to rip in those idiots again.
Should be black. You can buy these chrome replacements on ebay. I believe these are correct replacements without the high price http://www.international-auto.com/index.cfm?fa=p&pid=2464&addcar=1 As always, check first.
Me neither. But who says I would restore this thing to injected? I would restore it back to original LP500S with side-draft Webers in original livery. No other consideration would appeal to me. I think some are forgetting that an LP500S FI car is a post-production application installed on the cars after they were delivered to the USA. My bet is that in due course, the only USA applications that will remain on Countachs of any variants will the the 86+ factory FI motors. All bumpers, side-markers, FI kits, etc will soon be gone with the passage of time. It is clear that enthusiasts want the European as-built look. Of course, Anniversarios will remain as-is barring the USA front bumper. That's what I think...
Countach 5000S filler cap is black and concealed under a black port too. That's an indicator in how bad condition that car is: may be neither the fuel tank is OEM, otherwise i could not explain why there is that cap. That's one of the worst Countach available ciao
Alberto, I have seen other Countachs where the fuel-filler nozzle lid you refer to (an important component), has simply been removed & thrown away.
Correct, if you spend so much money, better have the car as leaved the factory: carbed and in euro spec. Those FI cars with USA bumpers are not good looking at all... and when you open the engine lid... bleah. 100 k are not enough to restore this car: mine was by far better than this, carbed and already euro look. My opinion is that is a 50 k car: at 72 k it's already too expensive ciao
Here is another silver Countach in California. FWIW all 88.5 cars were in fact built in late 1987 and in 1988. None of them were built in 1989. That's just lore that has been passed on. From Sepember 1988 on, only Anniversarios were made. Image Unavailable, Please Login
you Americans... tha NACA side air intake without the port... how can someone do this? these cars deserve respect, they are not tractors! These things make me feel sad... ciao
