    Marc,

This is great news. Congratulations on having passed another milestone. We are looking forward to actually holding and reading the book very soon.

Honestly, I was starting to wonder what the "years" were in "The Citroen Years". ;)

    Thank you Carmine!

It has been a long and arduous process, longer than I wanted believe me, but there were many factors utterly outside of my control.

It is therefore incredible to know the end of the tunnel is near: I will be quite emotional the day we print!

    best regards,

    Marc

    Morning all,

Thanks to my friend Yuko who lives in Milan but has many contacts in her homeland of Japan a car whcih I had been aware of but without knowing its chassis number has now been identifed As #300, a very appropriate and symbolic way for my humble database to move past the point of having data on more than 300 Khamsins though as always with registries the quality and quantity of data varies a lot.

This one is sitting in a sort of private museum, I don't believe the color is original since I am convinced that only seven K's were fly yellow and all were US models, it is automatic and has an interior which had been redone...differently...but at least it is preserved unlike those two in Japanese junkyards of which I poste photos a few months ago...

In other news an extremely low mileage US 5 speed car had been found in California, white with red interior, more information as it becomes available.

    best regards,

    Marc

Shouldn't this be posted in it's own thread?
More people will find it that way.

    Just a suggestion.

That settles the question once and for all that my loop carpet, same shade of dark blue as seen here, is original. I've had people argue it should be cut pile only. I've seen the loop pile in brochures as well but this really helps confirm it.

Nice find. Any chance of duplicating the contents somehow as a reference for restorations?

    Fantastic Find well done FGM!

I had replaced my carpet with loop some time ago and was told by at the time by the local dealer that not the correct carpet.... well there it is the evidence.
I have since changed it after the restor to cutloop.
    Cheers
    Graeme

    Hello all:

    In haste:

The Windsor castle concours d'elegance celebrating the Queen's 60 years "in office" and the various road tours which were part of the event included two Khamsins, the one of Doug, 341 as well at the one of Kim, 106 a left hand drive which lives in the UK.

The recent Maserati Club International meet which this year took place in Belgium with what appears to be a modest turnout had only one Khamsin: 306, owned by lady Caroline from Cologne Germany, a real character. She was very sorry she could not come to KHAMSIN QUARANTA in June and has a saying about her Khamsin which never fails to make me smile: "My Khamsin is female because she is b****y.":)

    best regards,

    Marc

I had the old car up for a run up the west coast of Scotland today as part of car run. She was the oldest car there by about 15 years! Drove about 370km. Mainly narrow twisty roads and in parts heavy tourist traffic incapable of driving at more than 60kmh! The car seemed very happy to keep up with the modern cars on the runs and overtake all the slow cars!

I jumped into my ( LHD) Fiat Barchetta after which is a very light car with about 130+ bhp. Felt as if I was standing still.

The K is still by far and away the most difficult car of my little fleet to jump into and extract the potential from. Too many steering corrections and being ultra cautious on the brakes so as not to lock them up , in particular in the wet. I do need to drive her more and use her as a daily driver to get it right. By the middle of the day, i was becoming smoother and faster and keeping pace with a 350bhp Suburu Imprezza. I always feel I have less room for error with the K if I over commit and need to loose speed quickly in or about a corner! It is easy to catch in a slide, but difficult to regulate that with the brakes, meaning I go back on the throttle and steer it around on a light pedal.

Do others find the same? I just wonder if my rear dampers need refurbed and it would be more stable? Or put tighter springs on the back?

I was also blowing a bit of oil on a hard uphill climb at about 140-160kmh, but not otherwise. Any views?

    Paul
