This might end up being the lamest silly season result ever. Massa stays put, Nico and MS stay put, Hamilton stays put. SNOOZER... As long as MS doesn't re-retire I'm happy though.
Not according to the article mentioned in this post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141749842&postcount=2142 Since then, however, events have seemingly overtaken the seven-times World Champion with reports suggesting that Mercedes are waiting to learn if their overtures towards Lewis Hamilton will be succcesful before considering whether to retain Schumacher as Nico Rosberg's team-mate. If that article is true, then it no longer hinges on MS but solely on Lewis.
Dear lord I hope the Merc team principles are smart enough too know that LH is STILL not mature enough for the team!
He was mature enough to get a WDC. And he is faster than the guys they have now. Getting Hami would be great for Mercedes but not so much for Lewis.
Lewis was in the best car that season. Hell even you could have won the WDC that year! Lewis will never be faster than Michael in equal cars.
We may never really know. What we do know is Nico is a magnificent qualifier every bit as good as anyone on track and Michael now has the qualifying and racing edge. Why is it that Michael really comes out and drives better and then everyone says, "ahhh well Nico isn't all that great after all is he??". Then when Nico out-qualifies Nico and Michael's car breaks, it's ,"yay Nico!" lol, it 's laughable and it's crap, I'd put Nico against Hamilton any day of the week, same goes for Michael. The point is, the world may never see expertise like Michael displayed in the late 90s, but where his ability currently sits still reflects he is as sharp as anyone out there as he has been regularly defeating his younger and astonishingly good teammate, who if you all recall BEAT Lewis Hamilton back in 2005 GP2 which of course lead him to F1 the following year. It was only when Nico left GP2 that Lewis won the GP2 title (2006). So let's stop saying 'meh, Nico isn't all that great' because he IS a fantastic driver, as is Lewis, I have zero problem calling them equal. I just think Jensen is not a great qualifier and Lewis has no problems putting him on the ropes regularly. Are either Michael Schumacher late 90s good?? No, no one is. Is Michael capable of whipping them? Yes, he has, many times now and very consistently now, no one will argue that unless for some ungodly reason you dislike Schu or your name starts with an R and has a last name which starts with an L. If Lewis is with Merc next year, mark my words Nico will give him a heck of a time and a LOT of people will eat their words when it comes to Nico. I would not at all be surprised if Nico beat Lewis regularly, not in the slightest.
Whilst I agree with the post, the reason Rosberg beat Hamilton in 05 was because they where in different series at the time...
Ham going to Merc has nothing to do with drivers and their ability, it's 100% having to do with needing a massively popular driver to wave the mercedes flag. Nico is just not big enough to do that on his own. That's the reason, period.
No Lewis was racing F3 those days. I saw him win in Zandvoort and out in a club the night before. He looked about 12 those days though
Shhhht! Don't blow my chance at another beer bet. In case anybody wants to bite AND Hami ends up at Mercedes: He'll beat the other driver (whoever that is) in WDC points next year.
I've tried to move on...seems like (too) much ado a out nothing. We'll ser what happens. It's still Silly Season, after all. Granted, this issue has more factual data attachec to the silliness.
