Topaz Detailing of a 348 TS

Hi all. Just thought I'd share a few snaps of Topaz's work over here in the UK. I took my 348 to Graypaul Nottingham for her annual service (got to say was hugely impressed with both the service and the price. Not at all what I'd been told to expect from a main dealer) and while my car was in, thought I'd get Topaz to spruce her up a bit. Although they are based in London, they also do work up at Graypaul Nottingham where they have a room set aside exclussively for their use. Mainly I wanted them to concentrate on the paintwork which had picked up some minor swirls and marks, but also there were places where it wasn't quite up to what I'd like. As well as this they tidied up the interior, dressed all the exterior black including the wheels and arches and tidied up the engine compartment a bit. The sills needed repainting so got them done as well.

The process started with a complete assessment of the paint thickness as well as a complete check over the car from Mazin. He let me know what they could do within my budget and we agreed on where they would concentrate their work. Got to say, was hugely impressed with both the way they approached the work as well as the results. Topaz often work on cars towards the top end of the market (saw an Enzo and F40 they had done) but the level of detail they went to on my little 348 was fantastic. I've often had comments about my car looking good - it's not until you let someone like Topaz loose on your car that you really see what 'good' is.

Thanks both. This is just coming to the end of a bit of a project to get my car up to the standard I would like. When I bought her she wasn't in anything like this condition. At the moment she's in having a complete interior retrim then we'll be there. I thought long and hard about it but in the end decided to get the lot done so that includes having the vinyl dash, instument cluster and parcel shelf retrimed as well so it matches the new door leather. I've gone for a high quality leather from Scotland (has supplied Aston Martin and Rolls as well I'm told) so the interior should live up to the quality of the exterior. Can't wait to get her back.

 

Mike, by the way, just checked out your profile. Have been to your neck of the woods, actually. I controlled aircraft out of Ali Al Salem back in 2003.

Obviously mine wasn't to this level but it gives an idea of the sort of thing they do.

Possibly it's a bit above what a 348 would normally have lavished on it but I thought what the heck. When I get her back from the retrim I'll post up some completed pictures as that will be the end of the project (so my wife tells me, anyway......)

 

Was quite busy as I recall. Quieter towards the end of my time there, which was good.
