I visited the place on September 13th but it was closed due to renovation work. Unfortunately I couldn't find any signs to where they have temporarily moved. I've been there many times in the late nineties whenever I visited the UK. Good times. always something to see, even beautiful classics like a 500 Superfast or 275 GTB.

    Best, Peter

Interesting - I bought 16583 (with a friend) in Japan in 1980. I bought my GTC4 from the same guy at the same time.
16583 was (and still is) a very nice example, so much so, that my friend kept it for himself. He has just recently decided to part company with it.

I am certain I have NOT mistaken the chassis number........Do you have any history on the car ? 16583 was originally sold by Maranello Concesionaires to a Mr John Tate of the Tate & Lyle sugar refiners on 22nd May 1973. Painted in Azzuro with Blue (VM3015) hide. It was UK registerted TA 8. Mr Tate was a close friend of Colonel Hoare and thus when he wished to sell the car in 1982 it was sent back to MC to be sold on consignment. I personally sold the car to the Earl of Mexborough who as previously stated had the car painted in Rosso Chiaro and converted to a spider. I have cross checked my Maranello records that show point of original sale against current UK Ferrari Owners Club records and I believe Mexborough still owns the car. I am as certain as I can be that your information is WRONG......Could your car be 16853 rather than 16583 ?????

No, it's 16583 - We knew that it was ex the Earl of Mexborough (by the serial number). Unfortunately, I have no other history up till Japan, 2004 (not 1980 as per my other post).

Right car wrong date surely? I know 16583 was sold to Japan but not as far back as 1980.

So are you meaning to correct 1980 (rather than 2000) to 2004? 16583 was sold from UK to Japan about mid-90s.

This now makes sense........Mexborough still owned the car in 2000 as per Ferrari Owners Club records. It was your statement of 1980 that confused the issue....... Thanks for verifying......

No, that's not quite true. I assume you are referring to the Fourth edition of the Ferrari Owners' Club Register which, although published in 2000 has data up to late 1998 but, in any case, much has been superceded with further information subsequently.

Mexborough sold the car to, or via, Hendon Way Motors. Mid 90's would make some sense to me. I had no idea it went to Japan.

My records state cut by Emilio Garcia, EG Autokraft, Ripley, Surrey.

When with Mexborough it was registered JM9450.

I must have been VERY bored one day in 1985 but here is a hand written table of the percentages of each model Maranello Concessionaires imported between 1960-1985........ Before the purists take me to task, I have included the rare LHD cars also......Hope you can decipher this........

Paul, were any of the 5 Dino 206's RHD? Some sources say all Dino 206's were LHD and others say there were 2 RHD cars.

Beautiful car, Andrew. The 206 must have been great to drive as having the aluminium body and full alloy engine I've read that it's around 300??? pounds lighter than a 246 with only a 15 BHP deficit on power. The low weight must have made it dynamically superb.

Just curious, but was anyone around MC when BBLM 35523 came through? There's a fellow who posted photos of it from a UK car show in the Boxer section.

one (I'm reasonably sure it was from UK) came to Aus and was converted in the late 70's, then the engine/trans was used in a 246F2 replica, so the car today runs a 246 engine.
