Ferrari brought in Kimi and Michael didn't want to screw over his friend Massa so he left. Still...Ferrari brought in Kimi.
OK. Simple, straightforward and honest answer. Massa was too slow. Again. This time by a big enough margin that he was struggling to make it out of Q2 against mid pack teams and lost. So I think the simple, straightforward and honest answer to "what happened?" would be "clearly not what either he or we wanted." Don't get me wrong, I really like Massa. A lot. And a couple of strong performances recently really made me happy to see him do well. Unfortunately, he is simply not on pace this year. Or last year. If he were paired with a so-so driver, and they were posting similar results, perhaps things would be different for him. But with Alonso as a team mate wringing every last tenth out of the car... I do hope Felipe moves in to something he enjoys, and I will tune in and watch him race wherever he goes. (I started watching Indy cars this year so I could see how Rubens was doing, for Pete's sake.). Maybe there is a testing and development role at the Scuderia for him. Maybe not. Bottom line, what happened? Massa was slow. Again. And therein lies the issue.
I don't really know what to say anymore. There are 1000 ways to insult Massa and right now I can't even think of a single good one. Sad to see Ferrari committing suicide like this. Imagine those who are actually PAYING to see this!
I don't even care about the waste of a salary he gets. What really pisses me off is that Massa is zero help to Alonso. If he were fast he could steal points away from the other title challengers. But back in midfield he is totally useless. Now if he could pick up his fight with Hami again and ruin Lewis' race....
Agreed. Makes no sense to me as well. But my point stands. Our opinion doesn't carry quite the heft of those who pay the bills. Odd that.
Oh yeah!!!! MASSA didn't suck,,,,,, AGAIN!!.... He will keep his seat after his drive today. All the haters can count on that...
Yeah that 8th spot was an impressive testament to get the max out of that car. While Alonso leads the WDC
Massa was actually fundamentally quicker than Alonso the entire race. Massa was just 'stuck'. Don't know what else to call it. Alonso has wrapped up this WDC IMO. Hamilton could have had a shot had he won today, poor guy, he deserved better
This was the last track where the Ferrari could show true weakness, but Alonso once again parted the Red Sea with his luck, amazing luck all season for this guy. Vettel is just 29 points behind and MAY have a shot if Alonso has some bad luck thrown in there but I just don't see it happening.
