If you like meat, go to Fogo de Chao (Brazilian Rodizio - Steak House where they bring samples of meat until you explode). The meat is delicious, the salad buffet is very fresh and the pao de queijos (Cheese balls) they give you are amazing. It is a nice place, but you can definitely walk in in jeans and tee shirt.

    Beautiful yellow Stradale!

Fogo de Chao is great but a national chain. I know this is as well, but Unos is great or Lou Malnatis for pizza are the defactos.

I always enjoy Tavern on Rush or Le Colonial (I know there's a couple of these as well..)

If you have some decent clothes Gene and Georgettis for a great steak, Kinzie Chophouse is pretty decent, Chicago Chop

My favorite restaurant in Chicago is Sunda. Hugo's has good steak.

Lou Malnatis doesnt serve Pizza, I'd call whatever they serve as pies. Or maybe american pizzas..I ate there once and it was the worst "pizza" i ever had.

Tavern and Carmines on Rush are good, if a little too show off (lots of fake smile/gold watches and sunglasses at night/trophy wives).

La Scarola is a nice italian restaurant (W Grand Ave), not pretentious but it can get busy.

Another place with good food but a little loud is Cafe Iberico.

    Mark,

I don't want to be a "hater" but cancel your reservation at G&G and walk 2 blocks from your hotel to Chicago Cut. You will actually find most of the Bears players there after the game... It's currently my favorite steakhouse in Chicago and significantly a better experience then all other steak recommendations thus far.

I've never been impressed with G&G's food. I guess they're popular because of their longetivity. I don't think service is great and their tradition of all-male servers is outdated.

I've had better steaks elsewhere at more reasonable prices and higher quality; with better service.

I believe their current reputation is based on what they once were years ago, not on what they are today.

I second Chicago Cut,even with the change of their Executive Chef recently(Jackie) they manage to maintain their high standards.
Great wine list and fun to peruse on their Ipads....

Agree, but it's fun to dine outside just to see all the Ferrari/Lamborghini/Bently cars pull up for valet.

    IMHO

Posing is the latest trend to try and impress. If you're not a movie star perhaps you can become a celebrity by what you drive.......so some think!

    RIP Tony Tag....:(

    Hello,

A bit cofused by your post. I enjoy dining out at the "Viagra Triangle" mostly for the atmosphere and yes, the cars. I'm not posing or a poser... I love Chicago and Ferrari. Is there anything wrong with that? :)

    Joe,

Apparently you misunderstood my post. I too have spent a lot of time at and near Rush & State over many years.

I merely made a comment which is very true to some extent. Perhaps you're not familiar with Tony Taglia (better known as 'Tony Tag'!). This is the type of person the moniker 'Viagra Triangle' refers to and others like him.

    WE ARE BACK!!!

    Heres my .02

Firstly let me say, this was my first trip to Chicago!! Wow what a BEAUTIFUL city!! my son and I could not get over how CLEAN it was!!

We took the Orange line into the city from Midway airport, and started too walk towards our hotel.. Every corner was a different sight too see!! the buildings are just incredible!! especially the older ones!! Felt safe the whole weekend, even at night time! would never do this in LA!! wouldnt even want too!!

    Ok.. Dinner!!

well as some of you have stated... The steak was a bit overpriced for what you get.. yes the service is good, but a bit lacking in the personal touch.. Im not a huge fan of Broiled steaks.. i much prefer on the grill with some seasoning. I had the Large Filet, medium rare. Again, no seasoning on it, and broiled, it was a nice cut, not quite as tender as i would of expected... But still good!!

All in all, very nice evening and Gene and Georgetti...fit the bill for me!! Son is not a STEAK fan, so he was able to order pasta, which he loved!!

So too me... bottom line, if your looking for Steak and steak alone, this may not be the place. But for us, this saturday night, it was perfect..

O and Soldier field!! wow what an experience!! after game, walked to Orange line with about 25,000 other people headin the same direction!! to Midway airport, and flew back to California!

    Im pooped!!

thanx again to all who helped me give my sone a wonderful 18th birthday present!!

PS.. Silver f430 spyder parked in front!!

Glad you had an awesome time. Next time bring some nicer clothes and hit up some other places and do the Chicago building architecture tour.

A friend is a regular there and my experience has always been along with him, perhaps we get special treatment. It looks like they have many regular customers.

In this economy nobody rest on their laurels for long. I think they deserve their popularity and predict they will remain long after today's trendy restaurant has expired.
I'm pleased Mark and his son enjoyed it. He asked for a Chicago Italian steakhouse, G&G is that.
