That is an absolutely stunning car Rock. Congrats.

Is that the stock height on 16's? It has a great stance. I love the all white lenses as well. Post more if you can.

It actually looks better in person, the pictures don't do it correct justice.

It was judged by a well known ferrari restorer, who is a collector and fca judge. After inspecting the car for half an hour (he was even on the ground looking underneath), his response was "spectacular".

the car drives better than it looks, just a pleasure

So what's the difference between the optional 16's and qv wheels? I don't believe there is any, but I could be wrong.

that page says not for the usa or japan (16inch)

there is a big difference in the wheels

the qv wheel is a near perfect mould or casting and has raised letters on the side

the early optional wheel is made by a different manufacturer and the casting is poor in comparison, no rasied letters and the date is stamped on the back.

my car achieved platinum, coppa bella and the top gt award, when it was jugded they tried to dock five points for the wheels, I then pulled out the euro parts book which states they were an option in 77 not 76 with p7 tires. I could just imangine what that cost in 77.

Rock actually I have a picture of that very moment when you pulled out the manual to show the judges. I'll try to find it...

    Rock,

You are right I just checked the 11965 & 11966 were Speedlines. I was judged in 2004 and not marked off for the QV wheels after I showed the parts sheet. I know they were not for US . I was also marked off for stuff that was factory correct. I enjoyed winning an award but the judging to me seems sometimes slanted and unprofessional sometimes skewed by politics and or misinformation. I have several sets of the QV and original rims just think since the 16" were an option, they are technically not incorrect for the model even if not correct for the US and they also fit the general appearance of the original. I am also running correct factory tire sizes. I have al least not messed with the bumpers, marker lights etc. thinking that anything I have taken off could be replaced.

    FCA rule
    8. Routine replacement items, such as spark plugs, filters, battery, window glass, and tires, need not be the exact original brand or type provided that replacements conform to the general appearance, characteristics, and size of the original. Tires with the correct profile should be fitted to original rims and any spare should match unless the spare is an original specially-equipped factory item

What year is you car? Do you have an original set of the option 16's?

it's a 77 near the end of the glass production, yes the wheels came with the car and are optional type not qv.

I know the rules are lax when it comes to judging the fine details, but thats what seperates the best in the field, when restoring a car where do you draw the line?
with this glass car there was no line, the judges were somewhat speachless.
the coppa judging was tough as they checked every detail in the car and operation of all the controls, even the cassette deck.

Is it possible for an 83 QV to have these wheels?

I have an 83 euro qv in my shop with 16" wheels that are exactly as you described. No stampings on the face edge yet no repro stampings. Just a few simple dates on the back side of the "spokes".

Good info. I was aware there were a variety of manufactures, and that some wheels are sharper than other, some with raised letters and some without, but is there any difference in the actual design of the wheel? The overall shape?

The reason I like the QV wheels as they have the same design as the original with the exception off the lip and groove and raised lettering. Would like to get a set of the option 16" wheels for the GT4

I have only seen several sets of originals, the qv's letters can be machined off.
