The sad thing is I know somebody who is similarly deluded and is practically worshiped by the Chicago startup community because of the lies and exaggerations he spreads about his own business. So while this thread might be entertaining in some ways... it's really disgusting. Fortunately in that case nobody's money's being stolen (unless you count the underpaid employees)

Anybody else notice the apology was by "Chad Greenway", possibly the brother of "Jeremy Greenway", purported COO of FxCIB

 

It's obvious this guy is a crook and tries to bluster his way through any challenge or request for information. He is displaying so many "tells" of a con man, it's not even funny.

For anyone interested in figuring out how to spot people like these, a good beginning point is a book called Spy the Lie.

As mentioned previously "If it sounds too good to be true run away as fast as you can"!!!

 

Im saddened to see that none of those who defended him in the Canada section have recanted.

 

I recall that they said he was personable in social situations and that they enjoyed having a beer with him. I don't think any said they had previously done business with him and none were verifying his claimed rate of return - they merely said he made a favourable first impression when them met him.

That's a subtle but important distinction. I don't think there's any need to recant or apologise for those reports.

Going forward, having beers with a known-scammer is a bad idea.

Fortunately, if the guy is so desperate and pathetic to try to scam people on an internet board, he is already on his way down. He is one stop from the klink.
