Minimum drag would not be minimum enough for top speed runs. Even when Honda tried out the V-Max of its F1 car, it replaced the rear wing with a vertical stabilisation fin.

What was that VMAX? Did they also remove the front wings?

How can you state that about something that is just in my imagination? :D

Also, no one was talking about speed runs...

They hit 413 km/h over one mile. They had a very small front wing, like the one used in Indy cars.

I think the Porsche is going to be the heavy weight of this new class of hypercars, by far. Only the Veyron will have it beat on the scale it seems.

The 918 will likely also be a considerable percentage cheaper than all the others, but over 3,600 lbs for a car in this class is in my eyes a bit unacceptable.

Crazy that Porsche and McLaren are sharing that test facility. I believe that's in Southern Spain. (Correction - IDIADA in Northern Spain)

I thought McLaren was a bit early releasing pic and some specs. But now I guess with those details out they will be giving Ferrari a hard time to beat them.

In the end, better looks (which remains to be seen) will not wipe out a potentially large performance gap, even if the normal buyer wouldn't notice. Wondering with what specs Ferrari comes up with and if there remains a performance gap vs the Mac if it will hurt sales. But maybe there's still enough eager buyers for the next F supercar...

Ferrari can sell out of almost anything they develop, except the FF. :D

Seriously - even if the new Ferrari WhateverTheyCallIt isn't a match for one or more of these other cars, we're not going to see them in the discount window. They'll all be sold...

They just need to work on putting less neutrals in the gearbox and fit a fuel pump that can last at least 200 miles and they'll be in good shape then! :p

As the old adage goes: "To finish first.......... first you have to finish!"

my guess was around 1000lbs, judging by the pronounced splitter and air passages. 1300lbs is impressive. weight distribution considered, the rear downforce would be at least 1500lbs? just look at that big *ss wing and that 'water rooster tail will be out of this world' inducing diffuser. it will be insanely fast, an awesome engineering piece...but will it be 'exciting' to drive relative to the other big boys? we'll find out next year.

They're going to show the tub, which has a very interesting seating arrangement. Everything will move to the driver, as I said earlier the mule's windshield is staying, you will see this in the tub. The new car borrows heavily from the MC concept and the 599xxevo.

Edit: I just saw the photo, that was quick.
